Maverick was clearly the better choice. With mantis being converted to floorless, and valravn being a floorless dive coaster, cedar point definitely went in the right direction

Not harping on kings island but they need more variation of manufacturing. B&m love you but majority of your coaster are not fast they have a gentle swoop... well not diamondback lol love that coaster even have an Awesome photo bomb on mine... me and brother hand in air girl on side seat ...blacked out ha ha. Another fun fact : one of the names an ad agency suggested for Magnum was “Psyco’s Path.” It was rejected as not appropriate for a family-friendly park??? Look up the definitions of “Magnum:”. A extra large container on wine, an extra large size/brand of condom, an extremely powerful handgun. All very family-friendly items-imagine the problems if you did all three simultaneously! 🤗

Think you’re way off on the Gemini stats. I worked there in 78-79 and know Gemini did well over 3 million guests per year. At around 3,200 per hour the ride could accommodate over 40,000 riders on a 14 hour operating day (10am-Midnight).

As someone who lives within 30 min of Irish Hills, i'm livid they blocked the Cedar Fair park considering they have a freakin NASCAR track in the area. Would be much more convenient than MI Adventure/Cedar Point.

This is an extremely unknown and “un-documented” fact, but I know this from my dad who was a maintenance worker. Surprisingly, there was an eight year time period where one of the “upward launching” towers from Power Tower had no function and was solely for support. S&S apparently did this because of the electric grid not being capable of handling the current of all four towers. But when Mantis was converted to Rougarou, they strengthened the grid and added the launch for the fourth tower. If you look at images of Power Tower from its early days, you can actually see this. A little bit of rare history!

Cedar Point almost built a second giga in the back of the park for 2013, it was then scrapped as cedar fair ownership changed and they built gatekeeper instead, this is mentioned in richard kinzel's biography

@@TP_Recommendations I knew about this too, but the design of that future giga was later used on a different roller coaster at Carowinds. That's why the layouts for Fury 325 and GateKeeper are so similar, it's because that giga wasn't supposed to be in the back, it was meant to replace the old bobsled roller coaster, Disaster Transport RIP, and Space Spiral which were both maintenance nightmares.

The park use to have 2 sky rides. The building for the end of the 2nd one is in frontier town right next to the exit for Mine Ride. If you look at the building, you can still see the 2 doors where the cars use to come in.

Cedar point has had two rides name shoot the rapids. The first one was removed in 1981 to make room for White Water landing

Actually, there have been three. The first was near where Blue Streak is today and was called "Chute the Rapids". The second was removed for White Water Landing, which in turn was removed for Maverick. The third was on the island in the lagoon and was eventually replaced with Forbidden Frontier. :)

That was, for the most part, true before corona hit. Now that corona is here, I've heard a lot of complaints, but not because of the staff, but because of access passes and the mask requirement.

Masks aren't awful in parks so I think people need to suck it up. However, the access passes are stupid. I went to Dorney Park yesterday, and they didn't change a thing. There were social distancing marks in the queue lines. I get that CP is a bigger park, but they really should've figured out a better system

Maverick originally had a heartline roll between the rock walls after it banked across the pond but it was replaced with a 'S' curve after they learned it put too much stress on the seats.

You stated the magic seat on Magnum is train 1 row 3. I disagree. After riding Magnum 2 dozen times for the past 2 weekends, row 11 is the new magic seat, great airtime and is super easy on the thighs. Try it for yourself!!
