People who are comparing Indian Bullet train project with Indonesia... Must Understand... In Indonesia Chinese workers and Chinese machines are doing the majority of work with Indonesian workers. **But in India L and T(an Indian company) is doing the construction.** **Electrical overhead wiring work will also be done by L and T** Machines are also built and operated by Indian engineers. Only Chief engineer comes once a while from Japan to see progress and modifications. **So technically India is learning how to make bullet train project** **Just like we learned how to make world class Metro infrastructure** And also JAPAN'S bullet trains are safest and best in the world. "So asking for help again n again in future from Japan is not what India is thinking." That's why it is taking time. Additional info -- Indonesia's route length is 142 km with 4 stations. **India's route length is 508 km (476 km elevated on pillars, including 21 km undersea tunnel) with 12 stations.** "Also, Undersea tunnel will be made by AFCONS which is also an Indian Company. People are dumb. As you said, India is learning the craft of making bullet train indigenously. And as is always the case, the learning phase takes time. You have to build new supply chains which never existed before in our country. Indonesia just took a shitload of Chinese debt with chinese machinery and workers to build a tiny corridoor just to show the world.

@@OopsdearDon't speak if you don't have knowledge of Economics. Currency is devalued in a controlled manner by the RBI to promote exports. All developing countries do it at some stage, even China massively devalued its currency to ease exports. Besides we have more than enough Forex reserves to strengthen the rupee whenever the situation demands.

Why 1 tunnel of 13.2 mtrs is chosen instead of 2 tunnels of 6.6mtrs. If 2 tunnels were selected there will be always one tunnel operational in emergency. How TBMs will be retrieved after two TBMS are lowered from savali and vikhroli pit. There is no opening between savali and vikhroli pit.

Second question may be answered by simply getting the TBMs back from where they were lowered underground. Lowering from centre, it may be that the surface/sub-surface conditions may not be favourable, compared to what's been done now. I guess the Vashi creek is what would be the centre as per your given idea. For the first question, I personally see a single TBM drill n cast more easier than drilling with 2 on each side + the adjustments to be made while casting.

In india we usually retrieve , refurbish and reuse tbms because we have many ongoing projects and those tbms can see a lot of use. But actually in many western countries where they often do not have other projects lined up they find it easier to just burry the tbm inside and never retrieve it. I think india will do the same for this project. Not because india does not need those tbms again, they most probably do for future bullet train projects but because it will be much faster. Let me explain. If they dig from one end to the other, then the tbm will need to dig 7-8 km, whereas in this case each machine only has to dig about 3.5 to 4 km of tunnels which will literally cut the tunneling time in half. Yes we loose the tbms but we save atleast 1 year in construction time.
