I bought this quite a while ago, it keeps time very well and the display is excellent quality. The only reason i don't wear it much is it's starting to corrode badly on the inside edges of the case, and as i now own a G Shock (GW-B5600-2ER), I don't see any reason to wear it. It's certainly no G-Shock, BUT it is a LOT of watch for a very little price and even for a G-Shock fan I'd say it's a worthy purchase.

@@romybuenaventura3133 IF you knew what you were on about, you'd know that steel can corrode VERY badly (rust), it all depends on what other materials are added to it that can make it highly corrosion resistant. Do some research before you post embarrassing comments next time.

wow. excellent watch for the money. there are few billions of people who can not be able to cough up $500 for a real thing. So this SKMEI can be a great alternative. Currently, I am working in Guatemala in my NGO and coffee business. Most of people that I meet inGuatemala, they can not even afford to buy Casio, so they buy no-name China branded Casio copies at the fraction of the real thing. This one looks good and I am certain that it will last longer than your willingness to wear. I had the real thing and of course, it does look good, has so many features along with bluetooth connection with your phone...etc, but at the end of the day, you actually use the features that this SKMEI watch has, about 90% of time. As for the real thing, it was too heavy, too blinky & shinny, too complicated, too small numbers.. and so forth, and it never got enough my wrist time, so I sold it off at ebay. again, awesome deal. thanks Ivan for your review, I immensely enjoyed it. good day to you.

I have the silver full metal G shock. Love it. Last week, I bought the silver and also the gold SKMEI for around $20 Australian each, shipped. Whilst they can't compare with the real thing, they are very, very good for the price and now I wear them to work and keep my full metal g shock for going out in.

I have two of these watches, love them. Sure the Casio is better, but is close to $800 AUD. That is way too much for me! I can wear this watch without worrying about banging it up. I think they look and feel great for the price!

I have had one of those for several months, it's great. The only small negative I have found is that "skmei" is engraved into the case, I was hoping to do the trick you can do with the skmei copy of the casio "royale" where you use some nailpolish remover to take off the skmei logo, it works on the royale copy but not on the gshock copy.

I took some time to paint the lettering in on mine with silver enamel paint... once it had dried I removed the excess from the surround with my nail, looks so much better now!

Bought this for $11 a few months ago for the fun of it, and I agree with most everything you said. The bracelet and the case itself is incredible well made for the price, but the letdown is the bad contrast LCD (SKMEI has many other models with good LCDs), and the press-on backplate, which I actually opened and had a hard time to get back on. I tried to remove the black paint in the letters on the bezel with no luck.

One of the worst experiences in my horological journey was trying to get a Casio watch repaired at the "official" Casio repair service center. ALL Casio watches and I do mean ALL Casio watches should be considered and treated as disposable. When they break, they are done. Yes I know they are supposed to be tough and durable but if they do break, then Casio treats them like garbage. If you do send a Casio that is out of warranty to their service center then they treat it as if it is a sales experience. They tell you that they will either fix it (if they have parts) or replace it. But seriously, they are going to tell you to junk it and buy a new one. They ONLY try to sell you a new one AND at FULL retail price. They seriously offered me a replacement watch at $40 over the going price on Ebay and at over 2X the going price and then they charged my credit card over $80 for the repair and refused to send back the broken one. In my experience they do not even try to repair a broken watch sent in for service. As a result, I have "almost:" sworn off buying ANY Casio. Any Casio should therefore be treated as a disposable watch. You can have a 500 disposable Casio or a $25 disposable SKMEI. There are other reasons to buy the SKMEI over the Casio other than what Ivan mentioned.

Bad service isn't restricted to Casio with some big Swiss brands with equal and worse horror stories; it totally debunks the idea that these mechanical marvels can be "repaired" and passed on to the next generation. Same goes for NH35 and other movements, just pull it out and replace... So I'm not surprised there's a strong market for various Chinese homage watches; the value for money proposition is undeniable.

Despite of the low price you will not feel like wearing or using an ultra cheap watch. It is the best ultra cheap i ve seen untill now. The viewing angle of the lcd is great. Mine runs +30s/week, though...

If you think this is a great watch from Skmei, you should try the 1356. It's EASILY the best and most feature packed digital watch they do and the negative display is significantly better than anything from Casio.

I just found metal casing for Gshock DW5600 for like $30. They have a kit with the SS casing, bracelet, and even a bumper for $65. You can grab a real DW5600 for like $45, and add this kit to it essentially getting the full metal model, saving about $300 :) I think I'll be doing that soon, need a gym beater :D

Well Perth I retried sizing my watch again with what I called cheap Chinese link remover.I need to apologize to the Chinese because I was fighting the fact that I needed to use my reading glasses in order to align the pusher to the pin! I get stubborn and pretend I can see like I’m 21 years old lol but anyway I put on my glasses and SUCCEEDED in sizing my watch! First time I’ve ever SUCCESSFULLY did it! I guess I need to submit to Father Time lol without my glasses I was not properly aligning it and bent the pusher pun on the solid part of the link now I will never have to wait to take my watch to the jewelers to wear my watch ever again!!

the issues is when the steel band are not going well - sometimes those connector is just gonna pinch the skin which makes the injuries. unfortunately that's a common problem, so it's best to avoid stellar bracelet if you don't want a pain from your arm

Finally I found a watch from China with a timer feature in it. Because it is rare to provide this feature into cheap Chinese hours. But I don't like the finishing that is still rough than other Chinese brands digitec brand. Timekeeping is good to within 20 seconds a month. The bracelet is naked steel, no fading possible. But it scratches just like any other steel bracelet.

I have a SKMEI 1123 and when I look at the face from a bottom angle all I see are the figures 88:88.88 You have to look directly at the face to see the correct time. Is this the case with this SKMEI 1456?

Love skmei and I have a few of their watches. They are a good brand. I would not buy this one though as its trying to be a g shock and that's the problem. The watches I have by this brand are of their own design and are very nice, not trying to be anything but their own unique design and that's the cool thing to me.

The pushers stick out too far and the band doesn’t hug the wrist as nicely as the real thing when viewing from the side. But for $23 what do you expect. The biggest issue is that it’s zchinese and a I won’t buy anything from:a China if I can reasonably avoid it, so oh well.

I have absolutely no problem with Rolex homages, but I really dislike SKMEI. One of the reason is that G-Shocks are already relatively affordable unlike Rolex. A little bit of saving can get you most G-Shock models like the full metal G without feeling guilty about irresponsible spending. Secondly, SKMEI is only copying the look without the quality and capabilities of G-Shock, unlike many Rolex homages that usually add their own touches to the design as well as offering similar features like water resistance, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, etc. if not the chronometer level of accuracy.

I get what you're saying, although I would point out that there are a whole range of Submariner homage levels... from astoundingly close and costly (e.g. controversial Ginault) to skin deep (e.g. $20 Tevise). The former is more like what you are describing, the latter is very much like this Skmei.... features a function of the budget, to an extent. A little bit of saving for someone in Perth Australia can get you almost any G-Shock, reasonably (without guilt or irresponsibility as you say). That can be very different in other parts of the world - I've lived in Phnom Penh where for the average local, spending US$500 on a Full Metal G would actually be rather irresponsible.

I forgot about those Tevise, but I thought they're more like Invicta ripoff? lol Again fair point about the living standard in developing countries, but I would argue that those people would rather get a proper G-Shock knockoff for cheap rather than a generic brand like Skmei.
