I recently came across this sentence in a book: "きみの目もあてにならないね。あれは、みんなにせものだよ。" Could you explain how ならない fits here? It looks like the negative of the verb 成る and it´s not being used after the te-form of another verb like in your examples.

In あてにならない, the phrase means "can't be trusted" or "unreliable." あて means "reliance" or "trust." ならない is the negative form of なる (to become), so it means "does not become." Put together, it means "can't be trusted." In your sentence: "きみの目もあてにならないね。あれは、みんなにせものだよ。" It means: "Your eyes can't be trusted either. That's all fake." Here, あてにならない refers to the other person's judgment being unreliable.
Could you tell me whats the diference between てならない and てたまらない?

1、Vて/A(い形容詞)くて/Na(な形容詞)で ならない 2、Vて/A(い形容詞)くて/Na(な形容詞)で たまらない Both refer to a state in which emotions, sensations, and desires are so high that they cannot be controlled. Both are similar expressions and can be used in many cases, but the difference is ① 1 is a slightly stiffer expression and is often used in written language ② Use 2 as an adjective that expresses an objective degree 例: ○杭州は暑くてたまらないです △杭州は暑くてならないです。 ③ Use 1 for verbs that express emotions that occur naturally (think/think/remember, etc.) 例: ○わたしには今回の地震は神の怒りであるように思えてならないんです。 ×わたしには今回の地震は神の怒りであるように思えてたまらないんです。
