@jrjcarl8 жыл бұрын
People judge him because he has no ring and appeard in only one SB. Well, Dan Marino never had a defense to carry him, and he never had a decent running game, he carried the franchise over his back; When he was injured in 1993, the Dolphins didn't make the playoffs, when he returned the team only missed the playoffs in 1996 until he retired in 1999. That symbolizes how much he carried the franchise. Dan Marino is one of the greatest to play this game, and nobody can deny it.
@gregtrust55998 жыл бұрын
Not to mention Marino had that team in 93' at 5-1 and most likely going to the super bowl, then he tore his Achilles, and they finish 9-7 which is pathetic, Brady gets injured and the pats still finish 11-5. Marino is the GOAT

greg trust You are mostly right, but the Dolphins had top 10 running games for 4 or 5 of those years. Not to mention that his last 3 playoff losses (again - he was getting old at that point) he scored a total of 13 points and threw 6 picks, 1 TD - not great / and not all his fault.
@gregtrust55998 жыл бұрын
+Michael Murphy Not his fault at all he had no help on both side of the ball... Here are the ranks for rushing and passing for the Dolphins during Marino's career. Marino's first full season was 84', but he was behind the helm after game 5 in 83', so this isn't a full season: Pass Rush 83' 19th 13th 84' 1st 16th 85' 2nd 18th 86' 1st 25th 87' 1st 23rd 88' 1st 28th last 89' 3rd 27th 90' 4th 22nd 91' 3rd 25th 92' 2nd 24th 93' 1st 25th-Marino is injured 94' 2nd 13th 95' 4th 21st 96' 11th 19th-JJ takes over 97' 2nd 29th-2nd to last 98' 10th 24th 99' 14th 22nd Thirteen years in the league and Marino keeps the Dolphins in the top 4 passing wise with no top end receiver or rushing game. The Dolphins lack of balance is shown in the stats. No one in the passing game has been as good, and no one will ever be as good. I will add the defensive stats during these years if u would like as well.

The best pure passers I've ever seen are Dan Marino, Warren Moon, John Elway, Terry Bradshaw, and Randall Cunningham. Marino got his release from Broadway Joe but was much more accurate. The deep passes those guys threw, especially Moon and Marino, were tight spirals thrown almost like javelins. Dante Culpepper before he got hurt could throw a big time deep ball as well. I'm not saying that they're the best (though you can make a case for Moon , Marino and Elway); I'm talking about throwing the best deep passes. Jim Plunkett and Doug Williams also threw vertically well.

Jeff George was very similar to what Jay Cutler is now; the ultimate tease. You're definitely right about his throwing of the football. Jay Schroeder was an excellent choice as well. At UCLA he was Aikman's backup as well as a pitcher for the baseball team.

He has the best passing season in NFL history hands down. 5084 yards, 48 tds, 9 300 yard games, 4 400 yard games, and 362 completions in 1984! Unheard of. Imagine the numbers Dan could put up in today's NFL. As a pitcher which is like the qb position, I'll take breaking records and going into the HOF instead of winning a championship tbh #PhinsUp #DolphinNation

Even the greatest defense in history (1985 Chicago Bears) had no answer for this gunslinger. He tore them apart with that quick release.

Marino's release was probably the best of all time.

I don’t care what anyone says, Marino is the greatest QB ever. The guy did so much with so little, damn shame he never won a championship.

Considering Montana had all the talent in the damn world around him... I'm just gonna say that Dan Marino was the better passer. The fact that he reach the levels of play that he did with the amount of talented he had around him is STILL mind blowing to this day. 5k+ passing yards and 48 touchdowns then would be today' so equivalent to six thousand passing yards and 60-70 touchdowns.

easily the best pure passer of all time.

From a pure passing standpoint, Marino had the best passing arm in NFL history. He had an accurate cannon and that legendary release. If he had a quality defense or a reliable running game, he would have won a Super Bowl. Manning and Brady had great arms and championships, but Marino is the gold standard for an NFL arm.

Only would I ever put him behind Young and Rodgers for the most TALENTED Quarterback ever. Love the man!

He made me into a Dolphin fan. He was the first football player that I remember his name if that make sense because before him I didn't took the time to remember certain players name even if they made a great play. But with him I made sure that I remember his name and jersey number

I do believe he was the best pure passer to ever play. The guy had no running game to help him and still dominated.

Just give this man in his prime a RB like Barry Sanders and see how many rings he'd have.
