The right sized bullet in that baby and I guarantee no Vulcan , Fx, or daystate will out shoot it past 100 yards! I know cause I have all those mentioned except the later. Food for thought, I keep a medium grip, load the bipod slightly with minimum cradling of the rear. It’s more like point , little load and cradle rear only enough to keep it from pitching up or down, let it recoil straight back. I run a sumo along with a limb saver does wonders shooting arsonal Mold 88g after hp conversion @1022fps

I have the exact rifle, I actually got a lot tighter groups when I removed the moderator in front. Yes, it got louder but made a huge difference in accuracy specially at 110 yards n beyond.

ahh are you talking about a screw on moderator or the shroud ? thanks for watching curious. I had an extra sound moderator that I took off as well.

@@ShootingTargets727 I actually cancelled the whole shroud system n manufactured my own. I machine threaded the barrel, n made a custom air stripper which screws directly on to the barrel, including a carbon fiber tube as a shroud. Everything fits nice n tight with no moving parts. Then I screwed a Donny FL moderator. Ill be more than happy to share with u photos of the setup if you want :) I also installed a heavier hammer/spring and upgraded valve. The gun is currently shooting 65gr Neilson's at 1350fps

Great Video on the Texan! My .257 LSS is not a short distance gun under 100 yards. I typically shoot only 200 yards and constantly split playing cards in half. My go to slug is the 72 grain Griffin boat tail LDC HP. These Griffin slugs are not the cheapest, but are worth it. I shoot tethered at 990 fps, 3000 psi. The key to constancy, is the MadDog stock which stiffens up the rifle quite a bit. Great vid!

I have the same Texan 257 and thought it was not good at 50yards group was not tight enough for my liking until I started shooting it out past 75 yards , I getting 1 inch groups at 80 yards with the NSA slugs , .

Great videos man! Decent, interpretable and applicable info. Frame flex is a major factor at long distance. How I imagine Texans think: a rifle is like a woman. To improve harmonics she needs a stable shoulder, a firm arm and a gentle grip...feeling the physics, is the constant! This helps save money buying her favourite ammo! 🤣😂

Hey, thought I'd pass along a 40 shot ladder test shot with my .308 using my own cast 120 grain slugs at 200 yards using an unregulated tethered 30 min SCBA tank filled to 2850psi. Hammer preload was set at ~85%. The rifle prints fairly tight for the first 15 shots or so considering 200 yards and winds that day. The red sticker is 3" (1.5 MOA @ 200 yds). I'm pretty happy considering these are my own cast wheel weight slugs and the power level of the rifle. They seem to buck the wind fairly well. I'm using .172 BC based LabRadar data collected. Velocity early in the string should be in the mid 960's... However, I didn't collect any velocity data. Just wanted to see how the rifle would print and determine reliable shot count for point of aim vs point of impact. At least you can use if as a reference for the .257. again, good luck with the .257. I'll be curious to see how the .257 does Vs the .308. Shoot a ladder test. Fill up the bottle. Set the preload to 50% and start shooting using the same point of aim. Note pressure & velocity after every shot. Look for a node where several shots group. Note the pressure range for the node. Then test varying hammer. preload. Hold is very important from what I’ve experienced. Pull rifle firmly into the shoulder. The .308 & .457 are ammo picky. Long projectiles group better than short in my general experience. Good luck.

Wanting for coyotes. How far would you trust to kill a coyote. Called coyotes I usually shoot them around 100yds to 150yds.

Well so for this rifle so far at least 75 Yards but that is because I have not gone out past 55. It could easily get another 20 yards no problem. My Benjamin Bulldog would be max 75 yards more like 50. The .457 and 308 easy 75 yards as well. If you wanted to hedge your bets the .457 is a monster that could easily kill a coyote with power at that range and a no so accurate shot. I am going to test all the .457, .308, .257 out to 115 and 150 and 200+ yards.

The AIRforce Texan 257 is a hunting rifle, And as hunting rifle. your vulcan isn't even in the same class. I have the Texan 257, if your just shooting paper and rats vulcan will workout. 90 fpe just isn't a lot for hunting long range
