#257. Resin AND Hairspray? DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
In todays Resin Art experiment, we find out what happens if we mix resin with hairspray!
In the first resin experiment, we spray directly onto the resin to see how it reacts and what happens when exposed to the UV lamp.
In the second resin experiment, we mix the resin with the hairspray!
Again, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
The results were unlike any effect I have ever seen in resin and it was a very interesting yet scary experiment! I was able to create some very unique looking resin art jewelry from these pieces!

Daniel to me those resin pieces look like a crystal farm. A couple of these look absolutely gorgeous. I wonder what would happen if you mixed in the hairspray, and then put the resin in degassing chamber? before curing it. to measure the hairspray, you could get the non-aerosol pump kind too. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you!

I sand starting at 600 then 1000,2000,4000,6000, then 12,000. Then I used the Novus plastic polishing system for buffing. Using a dremmel and a buffing wheel did step 3 through 1 twice each layer. Step three two times, then 2 two times, then 3 two times buffing with dremmel every step. Then, a layer of Meguiars car wax that is wax free. Buffing this out with the dremmel. It was the best smoothest finish I have ever gotten. Smoother than silk!!! My customer was so pleased and astonished at how smooth the resin was.

When the torch came out, my eyes nearly fell out of my head 😳. 😅. Really interesting effects on those pieces. They put me in mind of water that’s been caught mid boil. Quite mystical and moody. The princess thing has to happen now Dan or the angry mob will descend 😂

I will add, it may be worth trying it with fixative spray instead. You can use hair spray to fix dry media, but you run the risk of it yellowing over time. The same may potentially happen with resin.

What about coloured hairspray? Or spraying the hairspray into a separate container, then mixing. Lightly mixing a couple coloured resins together then add hairspray..

Try pump hairspray and mix in alcohol ink. There are continuous spray bottles that mimic aerosol cans, so you can mix color and get the mist.
