me watching this video on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, in my apartment with barely any lights: no problem, would work fine on my LG UltraGear 27" 1440P 240Hz OLED monitor too, even my Philips 65" 4K 120Hz OLED Gaming TV would make the video light up very well in my dark apartment

That auto-switch feature is something that every monitor should support! If not for OLED burn-in prevention, but for energy saving too.

Just use the Windows setting that turns off your monitors if you aren't using your PC. ASUS had a good idea, but this feature already exists in another form. I suppose the monitor could be cheaper without that sensor. Settings -> System -> Power&Sleep -> Screen: When plugged in, turn off after (minutes/hours).

@@lukas0999 One thing that really sucks with the Windows feature is that it also affects some games. Playing metaphor refantazio, during cutscenes i have to move the mouse every 5 or so minutes or the monitor turns off, also had it on 1 min before but that was downright annoying.

im happy for you guys. but i personally dont get why anyone would want 4k 27". the biggest advantage for me was 32" size, the resolution of 4k is not even as impactful as the sheer immersion i get from 32"

thats the thing, my desk is tiny. i know its all subjective so i wont argue 'my way is the best', but like i said - for me personally, the biggest upgrade was the size. being able to fill up your peripheral vision immerses you so much. and yeah i play competitive FPS games mostly, so its not like its just for single player games. maybe if youre winning money in tournaments you could argue the smaller is better competitively, but if youre not even playing for money then 32" is so much better its a no brainer.

This is fantastic. I do have a 32 inch qd oled at the moment, but having come from a 28 inch 4k display, I can confirm 27/28 inch is the sweet spot for comfort and image quality. I'll be tempted to go back when higher refresh rate models arrive.

Mini LED is looking great, the Odyssey G8 looks like a fab bit of kit and I can personally confirm the AOC Q27G3XMN performs really well on a budget. MicroLED is the tech I'm most interested in at the moment, as its only drawback at the moment seems to just be that... it's difficult to make. Which will likely be overcome as production expands

But yeah their RMA program can be rather poor. Though as long as you registered your product they'll usually take care of it no problem. It's an extra step, but it's in their policy to do it.

People just like to say things without knowing what they are talking about. The story with sharpness is similar to motion, in that you need a PPI in the thousands to reach the max possible image quality. There is old Japanese research showing that at those PPIs things start to look more like a real object rather than a screen. The only thing that can be said is the PPI is a useless statistic, and we should start looking at sharpness as pixels per degree (PPD) instead, which is something we already do with VR displays where this is most important. And before people start, the lenses in your eyes are absolute trash, most detail you see is filled in with the mind. When you are near-sighted, your vision has just shifted so much that your mind is unable to fill in the details. We don't see pixels, we see light reflected off of other particles and our brain interprets that as vision. As such, there is no such thing as "retina sharpness", and we haven't even began to comprehend what a real end game display looks like. Same goes with brightness. God, I would kill for a 32" 6k, or even better 42" 8k, high refresh OLED. I guess we will see those with the next revision of Displayport.

My 32 UCDM has the same proximity sensor, but without the same distance calibration. It is super useful. Hopefully they can update to include this distance feature unless this panel uses a newer sensor. Sometimes if my chair is sitting too close the monitor wont turn off, and conversely if I get too comfy and lean back too far it will turn off while I am playing/watching.

I cannot wait! Going to be a big PC upgrade year for me with AMD's X3D improvements, next gen graphics cards, and FINALLY a 27" 4K OLED. I tried ASUS's 27" 1440P WOLED in 2023 but returned it because I couldn't get over how bad the desktop experience was outside of gaming/videos. It sounds like the text sharpness and color accuracy issues are finally to the point where I'm excited to give OLED another shot. I love the proximity sensor on this particular model too, and UHBR20 gives me some future-proofing confidence even though it's not useful quite yet.

ASUS did a good job with this monitor if the calibration is actually consistent across all the units. I hope we see improvements with HDR in the future especially for the 1000 mode as everything else is already incredibly good on these oled displays.

Still the same brightness flaws, he even showed it in the video. Can't really be fixed as Samsung is the one limiting brightness intentionally. It's likely specifically done for incremental improvements over time. It's the same thing as the car industry, if we make the perfect product now, how can we get people to buy next years model instead of older last year models? The answer is obvious, actively gimp the current model to make slow improvements over time. There's only two brands making OLED displays so they can both get away with it.

With Display Port 2.1 UHBR 20 we can get 5K (5120x2880) at 180hz, 4K ultrawide (5120x2160) at 240hz and 1440p (2560x1440) at INSANE 720hz all at 10 bit HDR. Imagine. Imagine 5K 37-42inch (ppi same as 27 or 32 inch 4K) Tripple mode OLED that could switch between 5K at 180hz, 4K ultrawide at 240hz and 1440p at 720hz. The monitor endgame is getting closer.

Kind of. DLSS works better at 4k than it does at 1440p, but all the shimmering and TAA blurring looks worse with higher resolution. So depending on the quality of the AA implementation in the game DLSS/FSR can look better or worse at 4k.

I have a first-gen 27" 1440p OLED from a couple years ago- content is stunning and it's serviceable for daily use, but text fringing is evident at any reasonable viewing distance and it's made 10x worse if you're using it side-by-side with an LCD. From what you say RE: fringing, this will be my next monitor purchase finally.

@@nameless.0190 You missed the point he was making. PPI doesn't matter, it's how many degrees of view the display takes up. A 32" display pushed a couple inches back is identical to a 27" a couple inches forwards. At the same viewing distance the 27" is sharper, but it's also smaller taking up less of your vision. The end result is there's really no difference since you can move the displays just enough or push your seat back to get the same experience. It's not like with TVs where you're not going to push your couch closer to the TV a few feet or if you want a bigger display to be sharper you only have so much space to push your couch back.

Can you please review the AOC Agon PRO AG276QZD2! This revision is a glossy QD-OLED compared to the original model of this monitor you reviewed. Most people just use DLSS/FSR now instead of just straight up lowering the render resolution...I don't have an OLED, but I have a 27" 4k Mini-LED 160hz monitor and I can notice a huge difference if I just lower the in game resolution to 1440p or 1080p...It looks terrible compared to native 4k or using DLSS/FSR...Even using DLSS performance mode which renders at 1080p looks much better than than just lowering in-game resolution...

It immediately took off with its jet engine & struggled to get 40 frames to the display at 1440P... Thank you for the review! It would have been great to see the color accuracy performance for the second sRGB emulation configuration (Color Space set to sRGB). Especially since it what most users would be inclined to use since it doesn't lock down other picture settings.

If you had an fpga driving this thing it could easily deliver 960 HZ, and the panel can absolutely support it. Its worst response time was 0.48 ms. If this had rolling scan BFI implementation you would be nearly at CRT motion handling. Engineered obsolescence is the only reason we do not have this at this moment. If this was a Tandem OLED capable panel it could do 1000 nits full screen. If anybody wants to be able to use this with HDR at its maximum refresh rate, get the program lossless scaling off of steam for 7 Bucks. Absolutely worth it. It has 4X frame interpolation to take 60 up to 240 FPS.

I used to have a 32" 4k monitor, what i really hate about that monitor is when you watch videos that only supports 1080p, it is blurry as hell on a 32" monitor. @ im not a pro Player But a really good one in many titles but I had an 240 oled and the sample and hold is terrible for smooth action… and i returned the oled … but yes for movies i love my oled tv and my smartphone with the oled screen …. But fast and smooth action for gaming its really not as good as all reviewer say. @@freak0ut what he's saying is true. Also no one is arguing about smoothness. Smoothness and motion persistence (motion clarity) are two different things. And if the guy is comparing to CRT, which I've played unreal and quake on and can back him up, then there's no comparison. My 120hz C1 with 38% duty cycle bfi is clearer than 240hz (and as math works out 38% duty cycle is indeed over 300hz equivalent mprt). So yeah he's right. I still enjoy my time with 4k240 32", but I'd lie if I said I didn't want better MotionClarity. I'm gonna upgrade to a 4k480 32inch qdoled glossy the moment those are out. Although that may be a while.

You should also consider making a video comparing the monitor firmware of each brand, like a checklist for firmware. Since for example some brands lock monitor settings in srgb mode, while others leave all options available. Like Acer monitors for example dont switch to HDR automatically when there is a HDR signal and you have to switch to HDR manually each time. Things like that can be a dealbreaker and it would be nice to know what brand has the best firmware. Because these OLEDS don't really differ too much from each other in terms of specs and performance, but there can be tremendous differences in firmware.

I have gone through 5 different models of OLED monitors and every single one had terrible VRR flicker...I love the way OLEDs look, but I guess i'm super sensitive to VRR flicker because drove me insane! I ended up buying a 27" 4k Mini-LED 160hz monitor and I couldn't be happier! It has 1152 dimming zones, so the blooming is barely noticeable with that many zones at 27"...It only has 2 downsides, it has reverse blooming on solid grey backgrounds, and it has a weird bloom effect if you view it at a wide angle...Neither of those bother me though, the reverse blooming only really happens when doing desktop stuff with local dimming on and I sit directly infront of my monitor...I may wait for the true next generation of OLEDs and give them another try though...The very first OLED I tried was a 1440p 360hz and that motion clarity is just amazing when playing any 1st person game!

One other thing you might not have noticed is that miniLED displays tend to also crush small points of light in motion. Look at stars in any game and move the camera, even at slower motion you'll noticed the stars disappear. Stars in general tend to look poor on miniLED due to the bleed. I say stars and points of light are really where miniLED suffers.

Same thing happened with me. Got a LG B4 48” OLED and was too big and the brightness dimming drove me crazy so I returned it. Got the Samsung 42” OLED S90D same issue and returned it. Got a 39” LG OLED and the brightness was not enough the whites looked more blue than white and 1440p was too low of a resolution so I returned it. Got a Samsung G8 Mini LED 4K 240hz and I’m very happy with it. I guess I prefer Mini LED vs current OLED monitors other than the OLED on my iPhone and S10 Ultra tablet where the whites are white and not a blue white.

@Some0ne001 white being blue just means you had the color temp off. All displays have an option for warm, normal, or cold and some have an extra warm and cold. I've noticed normal on most displays tend to be on the colder side. Android and IOS also support changing the color temp. On iPhone by default the color temp changes based on the lighting of your room.

@@maegnificant what’s even more of a joke is just how much of Netflix’s library _isn’t_ in 4K. They charge you extra for their 4K plans, and then when it comes time for them to license stuff **that exists in 4K** they cheap out and only offer “1080p”. They also seem to have given up on providing _any_ 4k or download support on Windows, I suppose the correct way to watch movies on a flight is on my teeny tiny cellphone instead of my fancy laptop with a 4K HDR display I specifically chose for better media consumption.

I have the Alienware 32" QDOLED and its flipping AMAZING! No text fringing at all and 240hz screen.....I came from big TVs and was kind of let down I had to go so small from what I was used to but I couldn't have made a better decision ever. $1200 was steep though but well worth it. Not if it's off by default. If you need to go into the settings to activate this feature, you could just activate a similar setting in Windows where, when you don't use your PC, the monitors will get turned off. Settings -> System -> Power&Sleep -> Screen: When plugged in, turn off after (minutes/hours).

Hi HUB, love your reviews. I am a bit confused about one thing though; you often say OLEDs are at risk of burn-in with productivity work due to static content, but aren’t at risk with gaming. But this seems to gloss over the fact that most games also have static elements in the form of the user interface. Especially RPGs such as Path of Exile, Diablo, World of Warcraft, etc. Wouldn’t this be equally at risk for burn-in as static productivity work?

Yes, hundreds of hours playing the same game with non-transparent HUD / UI elements poses a risk of burn-in. However, many people don’t realize that any usage constantly degrades your entire screen, static content just makes this degradation uneven and therefore more noticable. Just google examples of OLED TVs used for 4:3 content - the used (degraded) center of the screen has less saturated colors and lower brigthness compared to the unused (not degraded) sides that “displayed” black bars.

I would trade my 32" 4K OLED for this. The sub pixel layout isn't ideal but good enough. Never buy a 1440p OLED with this sub pixel layout. Worst purchase ever. I literally had to run DSR at 5120x2160 to make it look decent.

I have the first gen qdoled uw ones and I really hate it after two years now. 27 4k is what I want but there is hardly any improvement yet in brightness. There is so much focus on dark scene performance in reviews and I get it because it sucked for so long but bright scenes are as important. my AW qdoled in Indy game in Giza level looks so dim that it cant be considered real HDR when its 200-300 nits at best. That is just sdr. It is supposed to be a bright sunny day but you just dont get that dazzling hdr that a TV can produce so really whats the point. might as well use a basic LCD screen that wont burn in and spend on a good OLED TV instead. 1000 nits at 2% patch on a screen of this size is just pathetic and it sharply drops at any bigger area, its just a marketing gimmick. meanwhile on a 65” TV that is what you get on a 10% patch. I guess its just physics and it is not really going to get better with oled. so yeah getting oled monitor for real HDR experience is a complete disappointment and I hope in the new year reviewers try to educate consumers instead of blindly glaze OLED monitors. It is really a basic HDR experience even though it cost $1000+ which is really not worth it. I paid $700 for mine and I think that is still too much. it has been three years now, the oled monitor hype and novelty is over. They need to actually deliver.

I don't know. For me 48" it's a minimum for 4K monitor. 27" will give you a very sharp image, but i don't like the performance hit because of this high of resolution.
