this! and also would be good to go over the positive side as well. for example in january i moved some of my savings from a regular BoA savings to a HYSA and i earned $23 in just interest from my account - for some people who might make $7 working minimum wage in some states that’s literally like 3 hours equivalent of work that your HYSA just earned for you. edit: also want to add the $23 is obviously based on how much is in your HYSA but once you have a bit saved up then your money really can start working for you instead of the other way around

His work schedule is like 75 hours a week to make 72k take home. He could probably do it in 3 or 4 years without paying rent. If his sister pays the car, that's 20k less of a burden but that would shave off less than a year. So 3 years of working 75 hours a week. Gonna be rough

@@jbmillard what are you even talking about? The government is clearly barely involved in regulating consumer debt, as evidenced by Caleb’s video. I think I could guess what his advice would be. If you don't have 6 months saved for emergencies and maxed out Roth IRA and you're not debt free buy a used car for less than $10k cash only (he's given this advice a lot to guests). Once you have no debt and you're maxing out Roth and have 20-30% of pretax income being saved for retirement then you can get a new/leased car that won't make you have to save less for retirement. The car should cost max 1-year salary. He would advise you to pay cash for the new car as well or a big down payment. Oh and don't buy unless the interest is 4% or less

@@officerahmo Ok, this is going to be longer than expected, third edit. Where to start? There are mandatory insurances for most employees: pension, unemployment, health, care, accident. premiums are calculated on a percentage of income. The employers has in general to pay half of that. And he makes the payment, so the employee only has to say where his/her insurance is. Tax on wages are payed from the employer (not by). The employee doesnt get to touch the money for the state, so pretty much impossible to get behind on taxes. There is no 401k or roth, but tax deductions for certain insurances. First 1000 Euro (2023) you receive in interest is tax free, but you cant roll that over to the next year if you dont use all of it. Rent is cheaper, but you cant compare that to the US directly. I spent over 2 years staying with different friends and family (paying board- cheaper than rent), air bnb etc with my belongings stored in multiple places as well as my car, to save money for my first home (move in date kept being pushed out due to construction) and I felt ‘homeless’ as I was figuring out each extra month where I was going to live. It was a hugely stressful time, though I recognise my situation comes with privilege too. Having a home base where you feel safe and settled is so important.

@@AnonYmous-UserNotFound 100% I'm sorry you had to experience that, and yes that is a form of homelessness, couch surfing, staying in hostels etc. And at least in Australia I know, you would be counted statistically as a person who was homeless. I hope you're in a better place, and you have somewhere you can call home now.

@@PBMS123 thank you and yes I’m living in my home that I ‘own’ (with a mortgage now). The sacrifice (being super frugal and moving around for over 2 years) was worth it to now own my home 😀

Oof, that's rough. Glad the part two is already out, here, in the future. What a hell of a video, though. Hopefully it worked out! Seems like a good guy. Genuinely love the no-bullshit with a heaping helping of compassion that you serve up in every video. It's refreshing to see. Very human.
