29,000 miles in my C8 Z06 stopped working...

I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a little bit of a scary moment, but cool heads prevailed! This is how you fix a dead batter my issue with any C8 generation Corvette. Watch and learn!

Remember when you drive your Vette the alternator only charges to 80% these days to save fuel. Not like in the old days when it went to 100%. That’s why I put my on a maintainer after every drive.

Been there, done that with my C8 Z06 but I only had 2400 miles on mine when it went poof. Funny thing, it took two replacement batteries from my dealer till they got a good battery hah.

Mine died when new with 200 miles on it. We had cold weather in Colorado and I didn't drive it for two weeks and it wouldn't start. I had ordered the battery charger with my car so I just plugged it in overnight and haven't had the problem since.

The NOCO jump box is the bomb, but pay the $100 for the tender and you will never need to worry about it. I have one for all three of my Corvettes. Just plug it and *f* it. *f* = forget or whatever else you want it to mean…

When my 2023 SR was about a month old, I didn't drive it for about 5 days and it was just like yours. It appeared to be deader than a hammer and I use the key to get in. Then I just decided to see what would happen if I tried to start it and it fired right up. I suspect unless yours was completely flat I that yours would have started too. I modified my battery tender by replacing the clips with a cigarette lighter plug. Now if I'm not going to be using it for a few days, I plug it in. I call it my mini hybrid Corvette.

Hi Jesse! If you’re leaving it sitting idle for longer period, best to use a battery tender! I had same thing happen before, once I got it tenderized, no issues!😅 It does have a lot of stuff active even when powered off.

Hey Jesse, good video like other Z owners I have had the same issue with the battery. First it tested fine then died again. I had to have it replaced but also purchased a portable jump box by Noco. There are a ton of modules over 40 in the C8’s I suspect something is slowly draining the battery 🪫even when the car isn’t running . The battery tenders are not included in the 3 LZ or LT trim levels they are an added option. At 29K miles if this is your first battery issue that’s likely a good sign unfortunately for me it was under 5K. Good luck take care

What a pain in the ass when you get ready to leave. At least you were at home though. I would assume if you leave your car keys close to the garage area maybe it is keeping the car in awake mode and the modules are draining the battery. If you are using a battery charger make sure it is compatible with the battery type. A lot of newer cars use a AGM type battery which requires a different type of charger. Stunning Z06. I kept wanting one but they are still above MSRP around my area so I went back to Mopar.

When you bought your Z06 it should of came with battery tender you plug in to your frunk left side cigarette or outlet plug in .I had trouble with my old 2020 stingray where i didn't know you have to plug in if not in use, had to take to dealer because of it. Problem was radio would not shut off when leaving the car and that was from low battery voltage even the car would still start but radio not shutting off.My new Z06 it came with it maybe 3lz trims it is standard not sure.

Battery is dead as well. So their checking to see if something is draining it or if it's just a bad battery. Not sure as of now. But I've seen others online having issues with z06 and the battery.

⁠@@gtrzero2157I got a 24’ Z06 about a month ago. Dropped it off for PPF over Memorial Day weekend and installed told me battery died just being in his shop for 3 days without use. When he jumped it, check engine light came on and it finally cleared after a few days of driving. No issues since but I daily it so I’m sure charging it helps.

@robsoto6340 Yeah, so when I bought the car, the battery was dead. They jumped it, then it went to ppf and died again. They just replaced the battery. I've got 200 miles, I drove it 50 miles yesterday and got it washed. when I plugged it into the trickle charger yesterday, the battery was already half dead, according to the charger. My base c8 stingray could go weeks no battery issues. The z06 it's like 30 min and it's drained. Don't quite know y.

Hi, I think you could have charged it tru trickle charger , thur the 12v power port by the glove box. Batteries are sometimes like light bulbs, they just unexpectedly fail, or you have a draw somewhere. I have several corvettes, I always leave on battery tenders if parked anymore than a week or so. On another note, I thought you had an Eray?. Good video.

Get the ~$15 cigarette lighter adapter for your CTEK and you wouldn't need to pull all of the interior trim out. Let it sit for a day and you are good to go.
