Hey, Joel I had mine coated by Jet Hott with a ceramic coat and they look amazing. I then tapped my valve covers and used super high strength silicone.

Jet Hott is some super Cool Coating... Its Original purpose was to Dissipate Heat ... An it works !!! Intercooler, radiator, piping, turbo housings...millions of uses....

I just did mines as well. Also pulled the cross vent nipples on both covers, welded them shut and grind em flush. Tired of dealing with it when doing coils. Also the silicon sealing the baffles is to keep the crank case pressure circulation through the baffle instead of making its way through the sides of the baffle and out of the 10an.

Exactly what i was looking for, on my RB20DET i had the same thing and you showed everything perfectly!

Looks good Joel... Powder Coating is very tough...

nice! i didn't know that it was good to remove the rivets from valve covers and put bolts in. i was to scared to do it because i was not sure if it was safe for cleaning inside

Nice work, my approach was just going to be tapping, then I can change them out at anytime. Welding on the bungs looks good as well. I would be a little sketchy with how you modded the baffles even with adding loctight, in the back of my mind I would worry them bolts will back out. 😂😂 But either way it looks good.

Have you heard of anyone having issues with the lobes on high lift cams hitting the heads of the bolts on the baffles? I've seen a couple posts about it on Facebook but I wouldn't think the lobes would be close enough to the bolts in the baffles to hit them.

What year 8.8 in the white customers car? Everyone’s going to the Ford 8.8’s. I did in my 351W swapped notch. Love it

Awesome video! what strength loctite did you use for the bolts holding the baffle in place?
@johnnygerakinis14174 жыл бұрын
Yeah would also like to know what strength loctite you used?
@zac23843 жыл бұрын
I would use red loctite

Joel how are you welding these? I’m having a miserable time welding on the cast covers. I’ve cleaned like crazy. I’m using 4043, running like 30% or so cleaning and 100 on the frequency, about 100 amps. I just keep pulling garbage out of the casting.
@GrannasRacing4 жыл бұрын
Yea try and keep penetration on the cast side of the weld low because of the old shit casting. It will continue to boil out crap, so less heat the better normally

will dry ice blasting be a better method vs sand blasting?

Do you need the ventilation between the valve covers with the Rubber hoses still when you have 2 An-10 from each?
@GrannasRacing4 жыл бұрын
Probably not but I always keep them

Hey Joel, is the 90 degree fitting on the exhaust side going to be an issue with a turbo that big? Would it be better to drill and tap that hole with a 90 degree -10 fitting for more clearance?
@GrannasRacing6 жыл бұрын
I will use the tight 90 fittings, should not be an issue. I think tapping the holes for pipe thread would work just as well too, then you could put a 90 fitting in there or whatever fitting.
@alexfrench81426 жыл бұрын
What would you do if you stripped out the exhaust threads? I was thinking m12-m10 step stud. And should I loctite the stud in the head or anti-seize the stud in the head

Alex French look into time-serts, they are really nice for thread repair

cleaner to tap imo
@GrannasRacing6 жыл бұрын
yea, i don't disagree... I do like the tapping aspect as it allows you to change out the fittings at any time as well.
