Great video man! My son just bought one and being a Harley guy, I know very little about sport bikes lol. This is very helpful, thank you.

it should be workable with just removing the upper 2 screws and the rubber mounts... way easier with removing the fairing though

Thank you very much for the video. I need to take off the fairing to work on the front end and wasn’t quite sure where all the screws were.

Dude this is my luckiest day of 2020. I just watched your rear wheel removal video which I've been scared to attempt. But also, I took the front off a year ago doing coolant change and found a previous owners repair that failed and needs re-doing with epoxy. It's been so long now I couldn't remember how I'd get it back on. But that's not all, my key ignition was giving me occasional error codes a while back and at the time there was no way I could get my hex wrenches in the right place to open / inspect / clean the contacts. I see in this video it's not that much more to take off the cluster and mainstay and then I should have plenty of space to get in there. I can't tell you enough this has really made my day - in a few short mins you've shown me the way forward to sort all these minor issues I've been putting off repeatedly. I'm my own worst enemy, really, I keep making things harder or more complex than they really are in my head. Thanks again, will give my chain and front sprocket a jolly good clean while that wheel's off! :-) Happy riding.

when you're pulling ignition, make sure to torch the hell out of where the bolts go into the triple (they're red loctited). also it's a security torx not an allen

@@Mad8vCyclesThanks. I pulled it off yesterday. It’s easy. But I realized that it’s a flimsy piece of gear and is partly responsible for some rattles. Have you ever reenforced the fairing?There was a broken plastic nut that needs to be superglued.
@Mad8vCycles4 ай бұрын
@@SteveSteeleSoundSymphony i have not. But plastic is easy to fix with a soldering iron and melting zipties into it
@SteveSteeleSoundSymphony4 ай бұрын
@@Mad8vCycles Good idea. I’ll do that. I’m also going to add rubber washers to bolts and contact points, and then some acoustic dampening tape on the bare surface areas.

@@Mad8vCycles Hey, one more question if you don’t mind. Have you ever installed GXSR forks on the SV1000? If so, were there any special considerations to the install? And how did it affect the handling and front end? Same with the shock. I have a GXSR shock but the gas reservoir is on the wrong side! Thanks.

Nice video mate, answered a question that I had lingering around for quite a while. I also have another small curiosity, if you have the time; while searching for my first bike the S version of the SV650 appears in such abundance that it makes the naked version, at least on my local market quite a bit more expensive. As the process of taking the fairings off appears easy enough, could I ask about your opinion how feasible swapping the front-end with something more retro-looking would be, could I get it in decently done in say under 300, 400 EUR or at this point simply getting a factory SV650 is more reasonable. Thanks a lot, have a good one.
