I like this reel. It’s a good band for the buck. I viewed one of your other videos breaking down an older Okuma Epixor baitfeeder. I notice this Coronado model does not have that beefy side plate gasket like the older Epixor. The gasket is a nice touch, and adds water resistance. Either way, this is a nice reel. Thanks Dennis.

Yes - they are good values in a bait feeder. There is an entry level Avenger, then the Episode and Coronado lines of bait feeders. All are good values for the price paid

The first versions of the Coronado are some of my favorite reels. I have a CD50 that I still use. I wish I had the CD 65 and CD90 still. They were beasts.

Just added a 4000 series Avenger to a stout 6'6 and very impressed. Ordered a longer, heavier rod thinking 6000 series reel so hoping for a good report here.

and to think I have been putting off my D.A.M. quick super with the line counter and 4 position anti reverse lever because it looked like it would be complicated, it's nothing compared to this

Dennis, I honestly think I like my Avenger AFB 80b a little better than this Coronado. Which reel costs more and is considered the higher end reel? This Coronado does have the nice oscillation gear set up which I like. Both reels also have AR overrides which I also like. I do like the gasket on the side plate of my Avenger. Maybe if this Coronado had such protection you would not have seen salt buildup so deep inside this Coronado.

The Coronado is a few dollars more than the Avenger

Complex for the sake of complexity is never good. And you are correct, people wont work on these. Due to that I own several baitdeeders including an early version of this reel, simpler and with stainless steel gears. Better in my opinion. Simplicity is sophistication.
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
This baitfeeder mechanism is actually pretty simple. It is getting to it that is the difficult part! I personally do not use them, but if I did, it would be the Shimano BTRs Thanks Armando.

You are so right Armando. Sounds like the Coronado has not been improved upon over the years. I love your comment: “simplicity is sophistication”. - Chris

What baitfeeder in this size range under $150 would you recommend, I'm new to baitfeeder reels & want one for catfish. This reel is where I've kind of landed through my own research but the Shimano baitrunner 6000d or oc looks like the better reel but much higher
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
The Okuma reels - Avenger or Coronado are good ones to start with. There is also the KastKing Sharky series for around $50 and the the higher priced Penn Fierce series. If you are new to this type of reel, start in this price range and see you you like fishing with them and what features you use or wish you had and then trade up the next time you go to purchase a reel if you feel you need something more - Thanks for asking - Dennis

I’m in the same situation now. What Baitrunner did you end up going with?
@Yelladog782 жыл бұрын
@@rubentorres4071 I actually tried a few friends had & went with a Pflueger Rocket 1375 & (4) Daiwa sealine 47H reels all casting reels with bait clickers and they have the lever to allow them to free spool & then flip the switch to lock them down because I couldn't find a spinning reel with the baitfeeder option that would hold up long term & wasn't complicated inside

Hola amigo compré el Coronado CDX80 y quiero saber si es normal en este carrete un pequeño desajuste al mover la manivela y también tiene un pequeño desajuste en el rotor, creo que esto no debería ser normal pero espero tu respuesta, gracias de antemano

I have this reel. I'm about to service it after watching this video. Did you buy it brand new ? Mine does not do that. This reel is very good. I surf fish this reel has fallen in the waves Alot and no problems.

@@joaquinlopez997 If this reel got seawater inside, soon the internal gears will oxidize, I suggest you maintain it with grease, and mine ended up breaking, it was bought new in the Okuma store on Amazon, this reel has a robust appearance but it is not, mine ended up broken without any capture and with few outputs, the screw that holds the large gear of the elevator is weakly attached to the plastic chassis and ended up loosening which caused some teeth to break easily, believe me I have never broken a fishing reel and with this one it happened to me, I hope and yours lasts a long time

@@Scorpi0Cub4no I haven't opened it up yet today I will. I ran out of grease while servicing my daiwa bg 8000 I was disappointed the gear was corroded it's only 1 yr old.. my Penn pursuit III both of them were fully sealed looked great. Today I will see how the okuma did.

Hi Dennis. I have an Okuma Epixor EF50 that needs a new main gear. The number I found for it is 12700021. I can’t find anyplace online that has one and am wondering if knew of a place to source one? Thanks for your help and I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos.
