True Feel and Velocity are impressive balls all the way around!

My takeaway is that "feel" (and sound) really isn't a determining factor to results on full swings. The differences in results appeared to be less than 3-5 yards for each club. The spin differences for the Velocity especially, is still less than 5%. The additional "run out" on a Velocity appears to be maybe 1-2 yards. At one point the results indicated that the Velocity was longest and least dispersed. What's not tested is results around the green. That's obviously difficult to test on a simulator. I could see using the AVX if I played in predominantly windy conditions because it appears to have penetrating flight. I could see using Velocity in hot weather and True Feel in cold weather. All in all a very good presentation.

The absolut best ball in the world is the one you score the lowest regularly. A lot might be surprised on what that ball is. I use to play PRO V1 but Velocity made me score better.

For 2024, I have played the TruFeel consistently. I could not be happier. I find that it stops very well with irons when it is hit on the green. It feels amazing with the putter and wedges, and it goes a long way with the driver and 3 wood. Unfortunately my slice seems to be creeping back. However, i noticed that my misses aren't by a lot. My slices look more like fades. I intentionally play a draw so i definitely know when i miss hit it and see a slice.

Sure wish I lived near your store. I could learn so much from you too. I think a ball fitting is very important. I’ve been trying all different brands for yrs and still not sure what’s best for me. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada if I’m ever down your way I’m definitely stopping in. You guys are very good!!

I appreciate that you were just reviewing the newly release balls for this year, but just as my personal feedback for future videos, I think this video would be more beneficial if you had also included the premium balls of the Pro V1 and Pro V1X throughout the whole testing, it would give a more complete picture of the full range of ball options, and if you are discussing value balls, you can really only make that decision in the context of the premium balls to see what if anything you are giving up by moving from a premium ball to a value ball, and to take it one step further it would be really cool to see Thomas and Jackie do the testing together so that you not only see the range of balls but how each ball reacts to two different swing speeds, appreciate the videos

As a senior high handicap golfer I don’t really see the need to be concerned with back spin and dimple count. Feel is important to me as much as the price. What I have found is playing one ball , not mixing brands gives me an idea of what I like or not. Swamp balls and free finds go into a bucket for my grand kids whether they are Pro V1 or Top Flights. I play a Kirkland V2 but might try the softer Titleist with a lower compression. 👍🇨🇦👨🦳

As someone who occasionally plays AVX, I might just try TruFeel since it was basically the same ball in this test

Interesting video but correct me if I’m wrong isn’t the AVX ( Alternative (to Pro ) V1/ V1X ) and currently they are on sale at exactly the same price as a Pro V1 / V1x which makes it a premium ball or why not buy the Pro V for the same price !? Swap out the Titleist only theme and test the Truefeel against the comparable ball from Gallaway and Taylor Made. Add in a Bridgestone and a Srixon ball ( top five tour ball manufacturers currently) and that would make very interesting watching .

Is there a big difference on 2019 Trufeel vs 2022 version? Thanks
@jayschultz73952 жыл бұрын
I would to a comparison between the Tour Soft and the True Feel, see which one spins the most with wedges. Also the Bridgestone e12 with dimple in the dimple to if does actually increase contact. I use all three and think they’re all good balls. Thanks

Do low backspin balls also have low side spin? Would be nice to hear Thomas give his thoughts on working the ball with a few swings.
@2ndswing2 жыл бұрын
Generally yes less spin means less spin in any direction . However this is an interesting topic and I would love to test workability of the golf balls based on dimples #'s, design etc. - Thomas

The number that stands out to me is the deviation in spin, almost universally lower with the TruFeel by a large margin.

True Feel reminds me of the old Balata, as far as the sound. Wonder what, if any similarities there would be, considering one is an older wound ball.

Great video and I really like how you threw in the ProV1x to validate the numbers. I think at Thomas’s speed the lower compression balls will not perform as well. I’d like to see this test with a more moderate swing speed and see how results differ.

Tru feel is great on links type courses where have to play bump and run, and wedge spin doesn't matter. Really who can tell difference in spin rates, the ball goes 2 m more when it lands. Big deal Also Tru feel is good winter ball.
@richardc69324 ай бұрын
The only difference other than sound / feel between these three balls is personal preference. What I see is a price that is very reasonable for a True Feel and the majority of golfers that I see can’t tell the difference. This is especially true for high to mid handicap golfers. For those individuals buying a higher priced ball like a ProV1 is mainly for bragging rights. Maybe they will travel a little further into the swampy ares on he course. 🇨🇦👍👨🦳😢

😂😂 love this comment. Our only rule that we preach is to be consistent with the ball you play. Try not to switch your golf ball model during a round. Once you get used to a feel, launch, and spin of a ball, switching to something completely different will impact your game!

Man you got a low spin swing. 5600 with the ProV1x with a 7 iron is remarkable

"They spend so much time developing these balls" - and, lo and behold, the results are very similar! Would the average golfer see any difference in their scoring average? I very much doubt it...
@lkae42 жыл бұрын
I saw a big difference in irons with AVX but not driver. Sticking with V1, V1x and left dash depending on weather.
@2ndswing2 жыл бұрын
More importantly play the exact same ball when you play if you are an average golfer. They all feel different and one thing you can control for consistency is your golf ball - Thomas

@@2ndswing I played the back 9 with left dash last week and the drives were monstrous. Almost had 2 birdies and an eagle. Of course, that ended up birdie-par-par because of my horrible putting. I'm sold on left dash. Still requires a proper swing but I completely understand why the tour wants to roll back the golf ball. Unbelievable.
@bartsimpson2872 жыл бұрын
Nice video. I definitely find more AVX balls in the trees on the left and more TruFeel balls in the trees on the right. Based on your tests and since the AVX logo is much cooler than the TruFeel logo, I should look in the trees on the left more often.
@Iamwrongbut Жыл бұрын
AVX is also in the ProV1 line of their ultra premium balls, it just doesn’t have the same name. It’s basically just a lower spin ProV1 which is why is sells for $55 a dozen
@erock10702 жыл бұрын
Not much in them in these 3 tests. Wouldn’t the benefit of the AXV be on chips to grab more with the urethane cover ? Otherwise why spend the money on a low spin urethane ball ??
@2ndswing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes another benefit of the urethane cover will be the soft feel around the green - Thomas
@InsuranceSpecialist2 жыл бұрын
Dimple count doesn't control spin per se. There's spacing, depth and variations. The old titleist 332 spun considerqbly more than the 348 avx, just FYI.
@2ndswing2 жыл бұрын
Dimples help influence lift in drag which can influence the height and spin on the ball. But you are correct that the design such as depth, size and spacing influences spin too - Thomas
