Did you leave trans on the vehicle and just pull off over drive housing? Outside of the rebuild kit what else do you need? (Gasket?)

Yes, i did leave the transmission in the van and just pulled the rear overdrive section off.... i ended up ordering this.. it mae it so much easier kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYe7iqmqrs6Jh6M . It came with all new clutches, already assembled so you wont need a press. But you will still need to set your thrust besting and spacers before reassembly. If you dont tear the gasket, you can reuse it, but they are cheap if you need to replace it.
