Off topic but in your latest episode when I said in the chat "Probably yelling at empty corridors at this point" I was picturing you in my mind back at your old Symantec building ranting about those troubles. Wasn't referring to your rants. Love the rants! 👍

The second or third night of the alpha we had 2 fgc guys and 2 fighting game casual fans on and did duos. Every combo of the 4 of us and just laughed and yelled at each other. Super fun!

And people wonder why I always call Tachikawa a masochist for playing Modern Ed in SF6. And he's playing on a leverless too. Pretty much turns the game from a 6 button fighter to a 7 button fighter, and half of those 7 buttons are system functions instead of normals. It gets really confusing and finger-twisting.

I think it's sorta funny that having a billion buttons was the result of trying to make inputs more approachable to new players, and it wound up being far more complicated.

I also find it very strange, considering every Tekken character get well over 50 moves without needing motion inputs and with just 4 buttons. They seem contrary to simultaneous button presses for some reason.

@@ardidsonriente2223 Tekken is a 4 button game but 6 button games, like this one, are not that rare. Street Fighter is a 6 button game. As for your second point, parry, grab and dash are all simultaneous button presses. I think the system is good, it could use some streamlining as far as customization goes, but it's a solid base. Once you learn it, which takes a little effort (oh no) then you can pick up any new character quite quickly, whereas in a game like tekken or SF, once you pick a character and learn that one, it can be quite a challenge to learn a new character, it's almost like relearning how to control the game. Now, I am not saying one is better or worse, but they each have advantages over each other.

@@ardidsonriente2223 Tekken does have some motion inputs tho. Paul and Kazuya, to name a few.

I'm with you that I think duos has a lot of potential as the secret sauce; I think it's actually probably going to wind up being the best onboarding tool for game bar none.

duos should 100 percent be mixed with singles in the main major tournaments it would be so awesome and they could run smaller events with singles only or like side tournaments that arent on main stage for only duos but they should for sure mix it they hype would be insane

I have the same issue with button + direction specials. Normally i have a shortcut of compartmentalizing the move within a category of motion inputs. Qcf p = fireball Qcb k = tatsu Etc 2xko takes more raw memorization and also has a lot of buttons

James do you think the stage is too small for how big hitboxes are and how limited vertical space is? The reason why Marvel 3 is so cool is the stages are huge so even with giant Akuma instant beam supers or soul fist soul fist you still have room to navigate around. But right now the game seems to have that PR: BFTG type neutral where everything is an almost full screen button that converts into combos but you don’t have the room to navigate around those big hitboxes. What are your thoughts on this?

I think the reason a lot of people assumed 2XKO would be beginner-friendly is that it was assumed the goal was to convert League of Legends players to 2XKO players and for that to work, the game would need to be accessible to someone who's never played a fighting game before.

I'm passing up on this game since it has no Motion Inputs. I can't enjoy a 2D Fighting Game without Motion Inputs. If I did, I would be playing Mortal Kombat or 3D Fighting Games. For me, the Motion Inputs are the most enjoyable aspect of 2D Fighting Games. When they decide to put them, then I'll check it out but I know what I like and Easy Inputs aren't it.

They never sent me an e-mail to give them any feedback so I been just leaving this comment hoping someone from 2xko will read or an influencer will convey when I see they make a video on alpha lab. I never could get into an actual online match. When you hit play it takes you to a tekken 8-esk lobby or sf6 battle hub like. Every time I tried to find a match it would highlight random parts of the lobby and I would try to approach them, hit every single button on my controller many times and nothing would happen. 2 seperate days for a total of around 45 minutes I tried to figure out how to get into a match with someone. Nothing would work. So I ended up just messing around in training mode for an hour for the whole two weeks. The game should not have been so difficult to get into a game.
