Why no long range camera set up? I still need to finish actually building mine but it should do line of site, no matter the range (as far as target shooting is concerned), pretty easily and cost me less than $60.

Logan awesome video. I have a question. are you able to follow the vapor trail using your scope from that distance. I tried so hard to find it, but couldn't bc of the mirage. And which direction would be coming from on the video on the left or right side of the target? Thanks

Nice man. What was your total elevation? I got my 7SAUM to 2480 last year. I plan to try for 2800 this year once the crops are gone. Did you say that was an Anarchy Outdoors adjustable base?

Adjustablebagrider.com
@gunfather834 жыл бұрын
@@longshotprecisionllc1224 gotcha. I was actually referring to the scope base. Their are very few adjustable scope bases out there and I was curious if Anarchy Outdoors had come up with their own. I think you and I have had some conversations on Instagram about the adjustable bad rider.
@WestDesertShooter4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man I believe it was near 165 or so. A bit less than my calculator thought. Maybe bad info on my inputs somewhere. It is an Ivey adjustable base. The scope base picatinny rail is Anarchy outdoors 30 MOA rail. Sorry for the confusion
@gunfather834 жыл бұрын
@@WestDesertShooter awesome man. Your altitude must me fairly high up there in the desert. I'm down near sea level and that shot would require well over 200 moa for myself. It's all good no confusion it was just wishful thinking on my part. I have a 40 moa rail on my tikka 7 SAUM from anarchy Outdoors

Hearing the plane fly over brings up the question, how many feet above ground level is the bullet at its apex? And ,well done!👍
@casper77942 жыл бұрын
Good question. It’s called max ordinate. The 183gr SMK going 2950 FPS will be 1,799.6 inches high (about 50 yards) at its highest point, 1,809 yards from the shooter, on its way to it’s 3,000 yard target. I think the planes are safe. Always smart to know especially at these ranges, for safety and reading wind.
@tomnixon95514 жыл бұрын
Logan, I’m in need of some advice...going for a mile shot. My ballistic app saying I need 80 MOA. I have a Tikka t3x tac a1 in 6.5 creedmoor vortex razor w/125 clicks in the turret, 40 moa in the riser. when zeroing at a 100 I’m having to hold under 6&1/2 moa in the glass to hit my target, turret is bottomed out. What am I missing here to get a true zero.
@WestDesertShooter4 жыл бұрын
Dial up 6.5 MOA and get a normal zero. Slip your turret to zero. Once it is now zeroed see how much adjustment you have up, a mile is a long shot and might require all your adjustment plus hold over in the reticle.

This is the same path that I am planning on going myself, I want to get into ELR, and I have built a Tikka 6.5CM in an MDT ACC chassis, so right now it is at v0.5. I need a better optic, a good bi-pod, and eventually will be getting a McGowen 7mm SAUM barrel 1/8" twist rate. Edit: I was unaware that PBB was in Utah, I'll be looking into options from them as well. Any advice on length for optimal muzzle velocity for 7mm SAUM? I can go out to 32" on length, looks like most people go with a 28". Can you drop a name for a local gunsmith for truing up the action and fitting the barrel once I go that route? I'm a "Utard" as well in the SLC valley :). I will be getting all of the reloading gear as I know that factory ammo for this is just insane. All of this is going to take place over the next year or so as the initial investment for what I have to start out with was a bit, and I figured I'd cut my teeth on this setup as I plan for the next. My brothers and I go out to the west desert on trips a couple times a year, and this last year I was stretching out my brother's .223 to 815 meters, really caught the bug for ELR even though what I was doing wouldn't really qualify lol. And thank you for all of the videos!
