Its occupied, however this was Sunday and in the morning, County buildings are for the most part closed. I used to sit in the parking lot around 8pm until 4am waiting to catch calls (like this fire), around that time is when it was actually empty.

@@highlander723 the high personal income areas of LA do not have street vendors in their area. One of the benefits of living in say San Marino is that they have strict rules/codes on everything. The nicer a place looks and feels for residents, the more desirable it is to live.... the more it costs to live there because the maintenance and standards are very expensive. Everyone wants to live in a "nice area" and go to nice schools and work in a nice place... well nice everything isn't cheap. Absolutely anything that detracts from desirable living is basically not wanted by anyone....

In San Bernardino firefighters see fires as a spectator sport. Lots of standing around and watching. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see a container of graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey bars. How do they end up with 30 fire trucks and only 5-10 firefighters actually doing something?

It's called manpower. Most fires can be put out with 2-3 engines depending on the size of the building. some of the trucks are FAST teams or an RIT team but i'm guessing you don't know what either of them are.

Depends where the interior crews were at the time. There could have been fire that you just couldn't see from the outside in that area. Also, you generally try to fight the fire from the unburned side. So, assuming they had access to that side which they probably did since most buildings like this have stairwells on both ends of the building, that's probably where the crews were. That also wouldn't be their main egress point anyway, that would be the stairwell they came up.

Wow that a 3 Alarm fire in my fire districts where I was a VFF that would be the entire county lol 🤣 In one of the fire districts we had three fire stations two of the fire stations only had two apparatuses station 2 usually has a type 6 and a type 1 engine and usually they are manned with two firefighters sometimes there's a paramedic and EMT firefighters sometimes they just happen to have two EMTs and then sometimes if that's the case the captain has to roll out because the captains are paramedics and they're stationed at station one and then station 3 they have a type 6 and a ladder truck the ladder truck hardly ever gets used because they just had it there for insurance purposes and they had issues with hydraulics so it was kind of out of service for a little bit I have no idea what their status is now and then at station one there's usually three firefighters sometimes they have two paramedics and sometimes they have two EMTs and one paramedic and that fire district all captains have to be paramedics and there's only one captain on each shift then we have our fire chief and then an assistant fire chief which is the head Fire Marshall and then of course on each shift we have anywhere between one sometimes three volunteers and depending on their experience they can go to the other stations and not have to be monitored by the captain. At the other fire district we usually have about four to six firefighter EMTs and paramedics mixture of volunteers and full-time I usually we have anywhere between 2 to 3 volunteers and they can range from having basic firefighter and EMT skills to being an EMT B EMT A and paramedic but they try to take the paramedics as pocs and then there's another fire station in that fire district where they usually have one or two EMT firefighters sometimes they're paramedic and sometimes the EMTs that are there are by themselves sometimes. That particular fire district has three ambulances or no it's for ambulances two of them are backups then there's one primary stationed at the second station and then the other one is at the main station And both those fire departments work together so seeing all these fire engines I'm looking at it and I'd be like wow that's the entire county of the whole area we'd have to have multiple resources scattered from everywhere to have that many fire engines All together I think there's 10 or 11 different types of apparatus from water tenders water tender tanker truck a couple brush trucks and then the ambulances and other types of fire engines and that department they're all a lot older apparatuses ranging from the '70s all the way up to the early and then at the other fire district they range from having a 1975 engine and then all the way up to a mid-2000s vehicles but there's quite a few apparatuses that are in the 90s and mid thousands but when you're in a pretty isolated rule desert area you keep what works and if it's all been paid off or if the state owns it then that works out until the state needs the vehicle back then you just lost a good resource

It's quite possible this has something to do with a structural situation that either recently happened or is about to.It is just as possible that code enforcement is soo defunct that this has happened.It happened high enough in the building that the source was internal and not due to the public.Really no matter why this happened it just about sums up everything to do with enforcement on the most official levels.Brandonomics strikes again.
