Dude terrifc video, good explanation resonated a lot with me. It's like you put into video mostly everything I'm realizing now and working towards understanding it. I have a hard time with discipline, I guess sciatica gives me no choice but to develop it... anyway thanks for the info take care!

I have acute lower back pain at the moment. I've been using the decompression, ham string and hip flexor exercises but all I seem to be doing is aggravating the issue. I'd appreciate your advise on that please. Edited to added that I have no sciatic pain nor any weakness in my legs. Thank you.

People often make mistakes when doing these stretches, but at the same time it is also imnportant to make sure you're doing the strengthening work in tandem, technical errors (inevitable when learning) will cause some aggravation but you should be learning from these and making small adjustments - this video goes through some of that and if you need more help do check out the website: backinshapeprogram.com

I take it you don't expect oaps to use bar weights as you progress do you?
@BackInShapeProgram2 ай бұрын
Yes, it's all down the the individual and practically nothing to do with the age. there might be some in their 20's who should not be using barbells based on their current conditions - literally just had a comment from a 77 year old lady who works out in the gym with weights - we shouldn't set blanket rules in this regard. It's down to the level of the individual - but I would say "almost" all CAN progress given the right instruction, care and attention to detail.

Should these exercises be done everydag? Or 3 days a week? To let the muscles rest?
@BackInShapeProgram2 ай бұрын
Often starting out doing them daily is necessary because you're not really challenging the muscle as you're spending most of your time learning the technique, but yes, once you're at a certain level you will want to do them in that sort of manner allowing time for the body to adapt :)

Your missing one key element here, hyperflexion exercises plays a massive part in strengthening the lower back for back support stability
@BackInShapeProgram2 ай бұрын
@@alwynmaguire8037 Hyper-Anything does not, especially not for the average person, and especially not in the early days. Granted, the individual once, establishing a good level on neutral strength and stability, can consider if there is a need but add in moments like the Jefferson curl etc WHICH CAN BE USED to really build strength in these compromised positions but for most it is certainly not appropriate in the early days. For example, if you cannot squat or hip hinge with 10kg with good form and control you have no business messing around with HYPER-anything. Others might disagree and that is fine, they can discuss it and make videos on their own channels about it :)
