When you dug up those boards, I thought, oh no, he's opened up a can of worms again! Glad to see that not all of the old fence was buried in there!

The finished product looks really good, especially the border! Also like the size of rock as it will hold up much longer.

no doubt it looks really good right now but you missed a crucial step. Without fabric cloth beneath those rocks it will be a weed garden in just a few weeks making it even harder for the homeowner to maintain than before.

@johngersna3263 Жыл бұрын
At first I thought the same thing but since it's an easement that would have been a bigger expense for the homeowner and maybe beyond their budget but if any weeds start popping up maybe they can give it a shot of weed killer to handle it.

As thick as that rock layer is … I doubt they’ll have issues. But…. Roundup is cheap if they do
@RockhillfarmYT

Yeah, that rock is 6 inches almost everywhere in some places it’s thicker than that. I put down 30 tons I told him I would expect to spray that at least once a year starting next spring Everybody worries about the grass coming out from underneath but the leaves that settle on top create a mulch layer and grass will grow out of the top

High Yield brand Killzall 365 will kill the weeds and keep it clear for most if not ALL of the growing season. I've used it for years and recommend it and have rave reviews from customers on how well it works.

In my pre-tractor days moved tons of rock by hand, a wheel barrow can be your friend in tight spaces like that. Nice work.

Salutations to you young man that’s impressive what you did with that full size skid steer in that limited space with just the bucket and no attachments. Looks good keep grinding and a little jewel always remember if you want to stand out and be successful in business or life the easiest way is to try to find ways to do more if you can because unfortunately we’re living in times where everybody is trying to find ways to do less seeing how you took your time and your familiarity with the old fashioned rake and shovel made me feel good 😂😂😂😂. I’d hire you in a minute if I had a home improvement project!!!!!!! Keep up the good work and God bless you

Did they want to be able to mow it? I'd have broadcast some seed on it wet it down and just make it mowable. Needs fabric under the rock, no weeds then coming back. Yep a Toro Dingo would've been perfect for that job. Looks good tho!

Lol what are you doing Brock!! Hey next time you run into a situation like that bring a wheelbarrow with you and just stick the corner of your skid loader bucket in the pile and just dump what’s in the corner of your bucket into a wheelbarrow It would be a lot easier to get in them tight spaces. Ask me how I know😂

Based upon how much time you spend on jobs, monthly, would you recommend doing dirt work as a side job? Does the ROI on equipment and time allow you to make a profit and still cover the note on the skid steer? do you think, that this would make sense to do as a side job?
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT Жыл бұрын
That all depends on how well you bet your jobs and what the market in your area will pay. If I charge $2000 for a job or $3000 for it makes a big difference. My problem has been, I have a tendency to under bid because I underestimated the time involved

Interesting how everyone wears you out about the absence of fabric under the stone?? I strip the gravel area of organic matter then spray with 4oz round up. Then place the stone a minimum of 6” thick. At that point I roll the stone with proper moisture in it to achieve maximum compaction with a 6’ 6000lb smooth drum roller. After it bakes out for a couple of days it’s as hard a a brick batt. It will be years before grass or weeds will be a problem except along the roadway edges. I actually promote grassing along the edges and the small surface root mass that grows there will actually help to hold the road bed gravel in place thus avoiding and kind of Maintence with box blades or scraper blades. People are guilty of wearing out their gravel, working up the fines in it and when it rains the fines wash away thus causing just loose rock condition which moves around with traffic passes and requires Maintence continuously. I just mow my edges and never have to put a blade on it period. My currently driveway is 15 years old and Ive only put a box blade on it once in that time line and that was after receiving 18” of rain in 20 hours. Proper site prep, correct stone thickness, proper compaction and a good crown in the road cross section and the 4ea basic keys to a successful gravel roadway project. And a Maintence free road bed. Great video Brock!! Glad you got your truck back quickly. On the transmission to me the single biggest factor in a problem free drive train is………. Driving style. I pull trailers and equipment every week and have 530,000 miles of trouble free engine life and transmission life. I never use the tow button and don’t let the truck down shift at highway speeds, I just let it bleed off speed and keep the rpms in the maximum torque output band. If you drive like there is a egg under the accelerator pedal when starting the load rolling and NEVER set the cruise button great things will happen as far as trouble performance from your truck!

The trees will die now, you should have never covered the roots with rock. Give it 5 years, and those trees will be dead. You should have just took them down if they wanted rock all in through there.
