Her experience is in no way representative for at least 99% of people who are “treated” with neuroleptic drugs, even those who have a cursory experience with such chemicals pretty much never get better. Having a pregnancy while medicated with such powerful drugs puts both you and the child at a massive risk, and if you decide to withdraw from them before/during/after pregnancy, you’ll likely experience withdrawal symptoms that rival kicking heroin. I’ve read hundreds of experiences from people who never seem to recover, and some are convinced they have permanent brain damage. Of course, any negative symptoms arise and the doctor will claim it’s the fault of your “mental illness.” Any possibly positive effects are automatically attributed to the drugs. It’s tragic, really. And I despise seeing this type of romanticized version of the phenomenon of the chronically drugged. Most people I know who take antipsychotics can hardly move due to the metabolic hell their bodies are experiencing, and they are in their 20s.
@raleymartin7850
@raleymartin7850 3 жыл бұрын
@@KatraCat420 Lauren’s experience with schizophrenia is unique to her just like every other person with schizophrenia’s experiences. She has also made multiple videos covering the side effects and risk factors of antipsychotic medications as well as her symptoms, so she’s not trying to “romanticize” or sugarcoat anything. She also specifically stated at the end of this video that it was filmed during a time where she was feeling extremely stable. I live in the United States where the healthcare system in general does a horrible job of providing general care and treatment, much less that for people struggling with mental illnesses. For that reason, I appreciate your insight because we hear stories here of misdiagnoses and over-medicating every day here. However, I encourage you to remember that a lot of people coming to channels like this are struggling with mental illness symptoms and looking for hope. Some may be very much in need of medications that they’re already hesitant/paranoid about taking, so negative comments and giving medical advice (unless you are a medical professional) is not helpful.

Teddy is sweet and adorable. Thank you for being candid about how Rob takes the "night shift" for much for the week. I've always struggled with anxiety/depression and I had severe postpartum depression so my husband also helped out a lot with the night feeds so I could get some sleep - sleep is so so so important especially for those living with any sort of mental illness. I had a lot of friends and family almost make me feel guilty that I was forcing my husband to do night feeds when he had to work. What they don't understand is A. I was not forcing him to do anything, he wanted to help me because he knows how important sleep is for my mental health and B. my husband would often tell me that it was easier for him to go to work sleep deprived than take care of a baby sleep deprived. I know this isn't the same for every working spouse/partner depending on what their occupation is, I just appreciated the acknowledgement of how hard it is to be a mom and that maternity leave is NOT a vacation. All that being said I think sleep deprivation has a lot to do with postpartum mood disorders and can hinder in recovery and moms should not feel like they have to do it all or suffer while neglecting their needs and mental health. With my mental health issues I could not have become a mom without a supportive partner and it looks like you have a wonderfully supportive partner as well. Also - I'm sure you get this all the time but Rob looks a lot like Adam Driver!

I've been on antipsychotic medications for the last two and a half years. So I relate very very well with this tiredness we get, with the struggle it is to socialize, with the exhausted feeling after any small effort made. It's hard. I started on a new job today after being outta work for the past year or so and I just feel like I don't have the strength on my body to cope with it now. We struggle, but we manage it.

Lauren, I love your videos. I need to say, hearing the amount of recognition and appreciation you have for Rob’s support is so beautiful, but you spend so much time trying to make things “fair.” It’s a wonderful/important trait, but you are living with a scary, frustrating disease which can be work in its own right and Rob clearly understands that about you. He’s the type of person I try to model myself after in my relationships - he is an incredible partner to you (and vice versa!) and it seems like you try to fill each other’s life with as much love as you can, despite any circumstance. Your connection is honestly so lovely to see. I don’t say “inspiring” often, but it really is.

I am convinced that men deal with sleep deprivation better than women. My mental health issues were "only" depression and anxiety, and not getting enough sleep completely broke me. Granted we had a particularly bad sleeper (2-hourly wake ups for the first 15 months, yay parenthood), but my husband handled it a lot better than I did and often would carry a bigger load to help me. Well done to you and your partner for finding what works for you and making it through this parenting journey!

Thank you for sharing your three days with us. It looks like you have a great life. I'm a father of two boys and would like to say that we have forced a bit our oldest boy to teach him walking sooner so he started walking when he was 10 and a half months old. Our youngest boy we havent tried to teach, but we have decided that he crawl as much as he needs and to start walking naturaly by himself which he did on his 14. month. It was his own acomplishment and it was a touching moment. Thanks again for the video and im looking forward for your next one.

I love your videos bc you’re ending with a lot of stereotypes around how living with schizophrenia really is. I have to be honest and say that in the beginning, I doubted of how good was having a baby with a condition like that, but sooo much thanks for taught me that I was wrong, and that all people deserve life quality, love, a family, etc. I wish you all the happiness in the world ❤️

I really love how real this is. It’s not about info or psychological aspects but real life between people. I think this adds a very humane touch to a subject which can be very heavy and clinical. Your baby is joyful and precious and you look fulfilled and at peace. Wishing you so much happiness with your family 🌈💜.

You live a good life. I love your videos. I love that you talk about your mental health condition, and teach others that just because you have a mental illness doesn’t make you any less in any way of a human being. Your a beautiful woman, and have a very beautiful family. Living with a mental health condition can be so challenging. I can see your trying your best to live your best life.
