I'm 80 and ever since I read in your book the section on 'The Chair Squat with load', and did the exercises, I've never had to use my hands to stand up from a chair, and that has led to getting up from the floor easily.

I had a few falls at home and couldn't get up from the floor. Fortunately I was uninjured and managed to butt-crawl to my phone and call someone to pull me up to my feet. Once on my feet I was fine. I can't kneel without pain - due to many falls in the past, my knees hurt even under finger pressure, much less my body weight. I also have scoliosis and misaligned lumbar vertebrae, which makes fall recovery even more challenging. How could these exercises be modified to help me with fall recovery?

I'm in the same boatas you! It's why I've lost the strength in my legs. Because it hurts to kneel to get back up. I think we can modify the mountain climber and do it standing leaning against a wall. @@HT-Physiowe need an alternative to kneeling for the mountain climber. I've also had double total knee replacements. Another commenter also mentioned the inability to kneel to do that exercise. I can take it for the few seconds to get up from the floor (once I get my strength back) but not for an extended period of time. I think an alternative is to use a stance similar to the wall pushup but bring the knee up and then straight leg back.

1:20 "I'm not going to ask you to get down onto the floor". Why not? The best way to learn a skill like standing up from the floor is to actually do it. I practice once or twice a day every single day, requiring about one minute per day. I can do it with my eyes closed, which simulates night-time. You will learn coordination and subtle "cheats" involving weight-shifts and momentum moves. My favorite move (from supine) is a high weak-side leg swing towards my head. When the relaxed leg falls downward to the floor I can use the momentum to get to a seated-on-floor position. Mr. Harlow, how about a video on how to actually get fom supine-on-floor to standing?

Ok with 6 month knee replacement? i had 6 weeks physio and was kinda devastated when they told me i wouldnt be able to do my floor exercises anymore or get up and down off the floor. I've been scared to even try now. What is your view on that physio advice i was given elsewhere? im hoping its different than theirs was.

I get muscle cramps every night in my legs and in my hands during day time. I am 76 years old. I am taking medicine for cramps but still get cramps sometimes. Is it okay for me to do the exercise for legs.
