Very true. Tech can and will fail. When I go out, I tend to take both. Seems "overkill" but you never know right? I run out with my field watch and my digital Pro Trek compass model.

My Boderry just shipped yesterday (one with the NH36 day & date complications) and I'm eagerly waiting for it to arrive. From the three watches you exhibited, I would wear the Boderry on a nylon NATO strap for its titanium lightness, and have a regular compass in my ruck. I'm not a fan of digital, plus the Avtrek looks like a THICC boi. And like you, I don't care for the aesthetics of the Cronos.
