Hi there! Dr. Gundry believes that as much as 99% of Americans may be experiencing leaky gut symptoms... not just from foods that contain lectins but also from processed foods, added sugars, and various other parts of the standard American diet that are harmful to our GI tracts and microbiome. That's why it is so important for all of us to take care of our gut health, both through nutrition and proper supplementation.

I first thought this guy must be nuts but when I thought about it in past years I’ve been getting severe diarrhoea when I have tomatoes in say a salad or a meal but not always so I’m actually confused as to wether or not this is due to the pesticides on the tomato skin (because it comes out whole in my diarrhoea) or because of the higher lectin concentration in some tomatos

Hello there! Lecithin is different than a lectin. A lectin is a plant protein that the plant uses to defend itself. This protein can cause issues in humans including brain fog, joint aches and gut issues. To learn more, please visit gundrymd.com/blog/!

Hi there! Our Olive Oil comes from Morocco. They are made from some of the most potent olives in the world, because they're grown on trees in a harsh, dry environment, with no fertilizers or pesticides. The end result is a powerful olive oil formula, with 30 times more hydroxytyrosol polyphenols per serving than 'ordinary' extra virgin olive oil. Tomatoes are FULL of lectins, but if you're able to prepare them without the skins and seeds, that removes the lectins.

Hi Stephanie! While there are many great benefits of following a lectin-free diet (like a boost in energy and improved gut health!) the preference of following this lifestyle is up to you. We recommend consulting with your primary care physician to discuss a plan that works best for your health.
