I'm going through this right now actually. We went on several dates and her and I are still really into each other(falling for each other) but a couple weeks ago her beastie said she was in love with her so now they are dating. She says she is confused because she loves this girl for how long they've been friends but she's falling for me but then at the same time she wants to be friends. We both have Borderline Personality Disorder and fear of abandonment issues which makes the whole situation that much more emotional. Not really sure what to do because I truly care about this woman but it is hard when I'm being told two different things.

People who pull away are doing you a favor. They are ambivalent about getting into a relationship with you so they stop the dating process. Better now than them hurting you down the road. Not worth your time.

Perfect timing, I just had this happen to me in a really bad way. I have had a crush on this girl for some time. One day (at a party) she came up to me and told me: "I think you are kind off cute". I'm a more outspoken but shy guy and didn't know what to say. So I wrote her an easter poem instead (it's a whole thing in my country), and I said in the poem that I also found her to be pretty cute. No response. Not a smile, not a thank you, nothing. I started texting her. Tried to arrange a time for us to talk about it. She only responded in one line of texts and was always busy. The thing is, all of this can be true. She is way to pretty and joyful, she could probably have a new guy every week, if she wasn't so damm shy. Mutual friends of ours (mostly girls who like the idea of us) had warned me about how shy and awkward she could be. (But when you got to know her, she would be the sweetest and kindest thing.) And a "love" poem (common or not in the easter season) is a big reaction to a single complement. Could definitely be interpreted as an act of desperation.

What if he was saying all these full on things in the beginning and making it seem as though he was feeling the same way I was…I was only reacting to what he was saying and going off of that. And then out of nowhere overnight he switched into a completely different person and became very emotionally cold and distant like he didn’t care about me at all and as though he’d forgotten all of the things that he’d said to me at the start. Feel like I wouldn’t have been as full on had he not been to begin with…

This whole "going too fast" thing is so stupid to me and sounds like nothing but excuses. Of course I want to spend a lot of time with someone I'm interested in. Why the heck wouldn't I?? If I didnt want to then i wouldnt bother dating them because clearly I dont care to get to know them and spend time with them. Everyone is toxic in projecting the "you seem needy, desperate, or not confident etc" lines how about I'm a very self aware person who has put a lot of work into myself and you sound like you haven't. I'm just very interested in you and learning about you. Since i don't know you like the back of my hand yet I would like to spend a lot of time together (obviously free time, not looking to encroach on your life) and learn about you through communication and body behavior. After that time if we're still together I'd still want to soend time together because I'm in love with you. We could be in the same situation 10 times and they will all be different. Yes I'm going to ask if I did anything wrong if i feel like your behavior has changed because I am not a mind reader and have no idea what you could perceive as wrong. If i dont ask i cant learn your preferences and thought processes.

Of all these reasons, I would say the main one is simply down to physical attraction, or lack of, plain and simple. People will deny it's top of their list, but that's just BS.

Another reason a person in this case (men) pull away is when they get tempted by by other women ,especially if they think they have options (plenty of low quality) / easy lays.

Women do the exact same things its honestly worse on that end they got 10 times as many options. Most women are seeing 3-4 guys at a time majority of men don't have that luxury.

When I had a severe problem in my life (not just me, but more globally), a guy with whom I dated a few times just DISAPPEAR. He knew about the problem, and then just stopped texting. I did not have time and power to think about it, I was really mentally in a bad place. Later, I figured out he stopped texting and I was like "Did I do something wrong?", "Was I going too slow with him and he gave up?". But then, I just throw away all of that from my head. Maybe I did something wrong, I will never know, haha.

I did #2 and also had a #3. He had a rough early adulthood. Teen pregnancy and addiction but getting back on his feet. I met him through his mom. We are 27 and 30. He seemed absolutely crazy about me, really pursued me in the right way, and slowly. Very respectful and kind and sweet. I waited months for him to ask me out and he finally did. But I ruined it. I put my foot in my mouth and brought up his past which I very stupidly didn’t realize he was extremely sensitive/embarrassed about. It really killed the vibe. I could tell he already felt apprehensive about me to begin with because I believe he (wrongly) assumes I am out of his league. Before that, I could tell I was making a really good impression. He told me my aura was very soothing and he loved being with me. I know he liked me and I believe he still does in a way! I can’t believe I blew it so bad. Any advice please?? :))

It sounds like he blew it more than you did, he should be able to discuss it to an extent or should be receiving help. In all likelihood he didn't want you to know that part of him because he hasn't worked through his trauma and he thinks it's a coat he can hang up and walk around without rather than accepting that it's part of who he is and that's okay.

Seeing women pretend to not know all these games, which they do incessantly- is worth a laugh. Especially with the phrase "I dont play games", western women are f'd in the head.
