I will be turning 66 in a couple of months. For 4 years I have power walked 5 miles EVERY day averaging over 15k steps per day and for 3 years I have intermittent fasted every day eating only whole foods, nothing processed. I have never had a weight problem and use to weigh about 120 and now only weigh 100 lbs but I feel better than I have felt since I was in my 40's. I have no aches or pains and zero health problems and take NO meds!! (and never will) Walking is good for our mind and body, it is amazing and the highlight of each day!! Great video, I am fairly new to your channel. xoxo Debbie

@@monikadobrovolskyte4580 very carefully! I do walk outside always because I love nature, and I have walked many times in snowy and icy conditions. Where I live winters are not that harsh. I do not miss for cold, wind, rain or any elements if I can help it. I bundle up and go because once you start making excuses it becomes easier to make them. Obviously, I might miss a few days a year, but not very many. Right now, I have gone for 4 months straight without missing a single day. I am very dedicated to this as I see the amazing results in how I look and feel!! When we are out people think I am a girlfriend with my oldest daughter who is 45. The other day a guy thought my 42-year-old daughter was the mother and I was the daughter LOL that shocked me!!

I'm so overwhelmed about walking around the neighborhood, so I started walking around my house (inside and outside). One thing that's really gotten more steps is that I stopped saving up items to put away. For instance, there used to be a basket at the bottom and top of the stairs and whom ever was going up or down would take the stuff inside the basket, saving trips up and down... No longer! I make the trip every time, saying: I need the steps! I used to save up trips through the house as well. Two or three things would pile up and I'd put them away next time I got up to get a cuppa or use the loo. No longer! Now I get up every time and take care of the thing! It's supposed to be an efficiency thing to let things pile up and do them all at once, but it's not good for our health. And I'm much happier without piles of stuff everywhere, waiting to be batch processed. 💕🌞🌵😷

@@kathesteiner8830 , oh, my pleasure. It all started when I read a comment on another channel where the lady said she had moved her pots and pans to the upper cabinets because it was getting difficult to get down. Something stabbed my heart and I replied that instead of moving the pans, she should start bending more. If you don't use it, you lose it. On another channel I saw a video where he talked about moving your body more, not less. Making tasks a bit more difficult not easier. Like bringing in the groceries. Instead of carrying the bags down by your side, carry them away from your body, using the weight to strengthen your arms. Or practice balancing by standing on one foot whilst brushing your teeth. Or years ago hearing about somebody doing lunges up and down the grocery store aisles. Now you'd never catch me doing lunges in public, but I've done a few tiny dips while on my way to the kitchen to get a snack! 🤫. My knees were talking to me, so I know it's something I need to do more often (the lunges, not the snacking... the snacking is probably why I need the lunges!). Sending lots of love 💕 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷

I am 50 and just starting to be in the thick of menopause. You sound like where I was just 4 months ago. I was depressed, overweight, and eating all the wrong foods. I had a wake up call when the dr put me on a heart monitor. I decided to change things. Go more whole food, extremely limit process foods and refined sugar out of my diet. The taste for crappy foods went away within a couple weeks. I lost almost 30 pounds and have been able to move better just adjusting all that. My doctor was astonished and happy when I just went back for a follow up that I actually took what she told me and ran with it. I wish you all the best in your health journey! Hugs! 🙂

@@tijonrobinson8388 You might want to go back & listen again. She did talk about post menopausal, actually she touched on it several times throughout the video. I actually thought the video was an encouragement to all women including PM women. (That’s me too) There’s so much to unpack, and she has many, many videos, you can search for those by topic, that might help you with your specific questions. She gives you all you need in this one video here. I love how she explains the body functions , reasons how and why, without going over the average person’s head with big technical & scientific terms. I also love her enthusiasm & I feel like her videos are truly a labor of love. If you like to read, she has several books out, I plan to get them soon! Don’t give up! Dr Mindy has given out more information than any gynecologist or GP has ever offered me. She gives you natural ways to help your body be healthy, rather than a pharmaceutical solution. It’s more work for her to teach & explain, as well as more work for the patient, but for me it’s worth the effort than to just taking a prescription & deal with side effects. Keep learning and let’s get walking ladies! ❤

Also I prioritized my exercising because it feels so good! I give myself a couple of days off and just relax and then go right back to it and I don’t hurt and since my inflammation seems to be all gone from IF and eating clean, it doesn’t hurt like it used to. I have been walking 10,000 steps every day for almost 3 months now. I have lost weight but not a lot, the biggest benefit is my legs have really put on muscle and they feel really strong and smaller so it should not be about weight loss since muscle weighs more the fat, it is how tone you can get while you are walking. For me, i am 5' foot 9 inches and 10,000 steps is 4.67 miles.

Loved and bookmarked this video, especially in re: the Dawn Effect info! It's just what I needed at this stage of my weight loss. I had been fasting over the past 2mo, feel great physically/mentally, am enjoying dancing, and lost 10 lbs. BUT, I was completely bummed at my last doctor's visit to f/u for DM- my A1C increased from 6.9 to 7.9! It makes sense that my body has a lot of stored glucose to get rid of. My AM sugars seem to be the highest over a 24 hour period. I haven't tried a longer fast yet, so I'll do that while still continuing to work on the nutrition. Thank you, Dr. Pelz!

❤love the Q&A! QUESTION: how to best approach fasting with hypothyroidism? My hormone levels are where they should be due to np thyroid, progesterone, and supplements (and specific foods). Will fasting longer (beyond the thyroid protocol in your book) throw my levels off? What is the best way to approach this giving i need to lose quite a bit of weight?

I love those video and the questions. They are exactly what I have wanted to ask. I can’t get my AM fasted # below 90 and a not eating any carbs, watching fats/proteins. Wore a CGM for 2 weeks and was so stressed by not getting under 90 my anxiety was through the roof so I took it off. You give me hope I may just need to give fasting more time. I do not understand when to work out - I workout at 6am so I always work out fasted, am I damaging myself? I am 61 post

QUESTION : first of all thank you Mindy for all these videos. Loving it, about to buy 2nd book. I wanted to go for a walk this morning. Had a horrible night, not enough sleep so very tired now. Do you recommend to sleep longer in the morning or get up as usual and go for walk even tired, continu the day as usual with regards to excercise and perhaps go to bed a bit earlier? Thank you. Interested if trying to catch up on the sleep during the morning would be helpfull or not. Lovely day to everyone ❤

I am experiencing adrenal insufficiency. My cortisol level is dangerously low. So the endocrinologist put me on hydrocortisone which she says I need to be on until March 2025. I’m not happy about that. I do respect her as a doctor. she is very knowledgeable and I have gotten a second opinion from Emery in Atlanta, which is among the best. But I feel like there has to be a more natural way to deal with this and heal my body then hydrocortisone for a year. So I am wondering if you have any suggestions for me. Since getting so sick, which I had extreme symptoms from the very very low cortisol level I have started taking better care of myself reducing stress I eat better. I listen to your podcast and several others and I’m learning a lot about how to stay healthy. So I’m very open to ideas other than hydrocortisone just solve this problem.Your help would be appreciated.

How do you check your blood glucose levels? I am new here! Just started watching your KZbin videos! 😊 I am 63, try to walk 4-5 times per week or more. Eating lots of good fats, proteins and some carbs like bake potatoes and yams. Need to lose 20 to 25 lbs. started IF this week. And already noticing my belly is a bit smaller. I carry a lot of my weight around my waist line. My daughter and sil are on the carnivore diet….what do you think of that diet? Also she’s a little constipated from it and I said there’s really little to no fiber in meat. What do you think? Can’t wait to read your book!
