3 Seals RESCUED from Packaging Strap

The majority of our seal entanglements in Namibia are caused by discarded fishing equipment, particularly fishing line. Over the past few days, we found an increasing amount of seals who had packaging strap wrapped around themselves. It could be an indicator that a large amount of packaging strap was thrown into the ocean somewhere close by.
Packaging strap is extremely strong, it does not break as the seals grow. Eventually, the plastic starts cutting into the seals skin if not removed on time, leading to horrible infections and eventually worse.
Luckily Naude and Antoine from Ocean Conservation Namibia (www.ocnamibia.org) found those three seals on time. They managed to catch them quickly, and cut them free from their entanglements. They could safely return to the ocean.
We expect to find more cases of packaging strap entanglement over the next few days and weeks. 🦭

A common conversation between these seals: "Those guys are terrible hunters, sometimes they get us but we always escape." "One time I was sick because of those evil magical necklaces and they got me, but the necklace broke and I managed to waddle away from them. I got better after that." "Did you notice they only go for the ones with the cursed neck ties and painful mouth spikes?" "They can't get us unless we're cursed, hahaha"

Love how you talk sweet nothings to them and give them a wee rub after they’ve been freed of whatever it was they were entangled in. Must be very stressful for the seals to be chased down, grabbed by their flippers or have a net trap them and then be sat upon.

No, OCN is only three people: Katja, Naude and Antoine. There is no office or anything.

I agree, I would love to hear about the relationship between the 3 guys. How they met and how they gained a passion for saving seals. They absolutely have to be lovers of all animals. I wouldn’t believe otherwise.

@@keylowlow9648 I agree, would love to know more about the history. How did they start doing what they do? Also, would love to know more about the Seals, why do they gather in such large numbers on that particular beach? etc.

I wish I could donate but I’m a student and all my savings goes for university materials I use to study. But I do a lot of energy work and at least I hope it can be of some help through love. Yesterday I discovered this channel and I watched the videos for like two hours. Thanks for all the hard work, now you are going to be part of my prayers. Good vibes for all of you, your families, the animals and for the people who throw trash to the ocean so they can wake up and open their minds and be aware of the harm they are doing so they can stop. Lots of love from Mexico. P.s. my favourite parts are when the seals run to the water, they look so cute.

This videos have inspired me, I’m going to investigate the ocean support organisations in Mexico (I live in Mexico), and try to cooperate or raise awareness. I know it’s not Namibia but the oceans have no frontiers, we are connected and if each one of us take care of the area we live in, we can make this a better world. Do not lose hope, this beautiful planet deserves to be a nice place for everyone.
