That one simple comment of why to angle the pick. I had heard before about pick angle. But not why and never felt it until your detailed explanation. Thank You for the time you took.

I've been struggling with alternate picking, even after watching multiple instructional videos. My pick was getting stuck on the strings. Finally I found this and it showed me the light. Pick angle and stroke direction are very important. After watching this I went from sucking at alternate picking to being able to do it fast and somewhat accurately within 10 minutes.

I’ve been through Justin’s Beginner course which has brought me from a no nothing to being fairly comfortable with Acoustic Campfire songs. I switched to electric late in his course and the beauty of his videos is that they are so detailed, when you watch them again, you get so much out of them still. Hell of a teacher. Imagine how great he would be in a private 1 on 1 lesson. Incredible.

I think he must sponsored you to say such a thing. I paid for his course. Its boring watching him as the only instructor on his site. Its cheap i will say that, but u certainly get what u pay for. Ive used a lot of guitar learning apps and there are heaps better.

@@jimmycricketlopez2746 Well.. i doubt he is sponsored, but i am for sure not. I disagree with everything you said, but at the end of the day it varies from person to person. I find him a perfect teacher really, and have no trouble at all by the fact that he is the only one. Dare i say, i actually prefer only having one teacher. Never paid for anything at all, and all of the stuff that i learned from his has worked perfectly fine.

Mate. I didn't even start watching the video. I went to comments to see if people recommend it. I saw your comment, noticed the word "angle". I took my guitar, started picking with different angle and with engaging my wrist. That's how I learned to fast alternate pick.

Justin, you’ve just saved my life lol; I’ve been struggling so much with alternate picking for the past 2 weeks, and even my guitar teacher couldn’t figure out why I sucked at it so badly. 2 minutes in and it’s a world of a difference. I’m seriously so happy that I could cry 😭 Thank you so much, your lessons are truly a Godsend 🙏

One of the best guitar teacher/expert/authority I've ever seen. How lucky today's kids are for having access to him and many other great teachers by click of a button. In my days of learning the guitar back in the 80s, I would be very lucky to have a copy of an old guitar book with some tablature. Technology is amazing 👏

This is probably the best guitar video I've ever seen. That tip about the angle of the pick is amazing and you explained it amazingly. I was just using it flat on the string before but the songs I play sound so much better now!

Wow I've been learning guitar for about 7 months now. (Not very consistently tho). And my teacher did tell me about picking at an angle but I never really thought about the inward /outward motion. It actually makes quite a bit of difference.

Hi Justin Thank you so much for your lessons they are really helpful and fun to watch . I have a question if anyone can answer me please , whenever i hit the pick with no angle, the string sound comes good but whenever I tilt the pick and try to hit a string it makes a weird sound of it hitting the string i dont know how to describe it but i cant hear it in your video when you tilt the pick, I dont know what iam doing wrong but its really frustrating , cause if i dont tilt it, it get stuck when i strum up and if i tilt it , it makes this annoying sound !?

@evgeniy_moscow_gooner2 ай бұрын
Yeah, what Justin is saying here at the end is a collection of pretty much all red flags regading picking technique advice. Comfortable should never be what you should go by. It should be calculated and efficient to perfection, in the end it will result in being the most comfortable technique that will allow you to play anything. Basically, Paul Gilber and Anton Oparin are the two safest options to use as a reference point.
