I'm confused. The instructor emphasized pushing both heels against the blocks before starting, yet at the start the trailing leg heel is against the block but the forward heel is NOT against the block (4:02)...?

Im in the EXACT same place as you, but im in 8th grade, and my first track meet is on Saturday
@blakemeisner1954 Жыл бұрын
There’s no easy way to improve. You have to put in the work. Since it’s your first sport, go into each meet trying to have fun rather than win all your races, because you won’t. Talk with your coaches regularly to see what you can realistically improve on in one season and go from there.

Same ! If you can afford it maybe look into atrack coach or into doing AAU which you would be conditioned the whole year !

yoo samee kinda. im in grade 10 and ive been wanting to do track as well. i did 100 meter once in grade 7 but couldnt do it the other years because of covid but now i am happy to finally be able to properly do 100m. ive always told myself i shouldnt do sprints beacause i am on the skinner side and i know its better to not be beacuse you can put more force into the ground. do you think i stand a chance agaisnt other people who are not as skinny as me?

Without a block start Will the crouch start pick up speed earlier compared to someone just leaning before starting to run

Which side foot is the forward foot, how do you determine which foot is the front leg & what is the purpose?
@ariapplefarm2 жыл бұрын
your back foot is the strong foot (the foot you would use to kick a ball with or jump off of) and the weak foot in the front. From what I understand the strong foot is in the back because its the foot you intially push out with when starting your run.
@finn_fish_7085 Жыл бұрын
Your dominant foot is back. I figured out by my friend pushing me and my first step was with my left foot so my left foot is back

Sprinter is moving the blocks a couple inches closer to the start line than the coach's instructions. Probably why he can't straighten his back.
@elliotiv943 жыл бұрын
Block placement hindering his zero step,let that hind foot go another finger length so he can lif his hips and get proper placement and his first step will be more efficient
@trogpo Жыл бұрын
Yea, spot on. There is a 90 degree angle on both his legs, instead of 90 and 125 [02:38]. The position of his left leg is a bit better on the actual start, but generally, I found this demo a bit lacking. Best demo in my opinion is by Carl Lewis and Coach Tellez.
