The blueprint for this current fact free America we live in. The rise of of the "anti science right" is absolute cancer.

Given that Amy still calls a stuffed dinosaur a dragon, and given that her religion prefers evolution and climate change over actual science, well, I'm glad she has a day job...

And that she considers Bill Nye, an actor with no science degrees, is a scientist!

Why doesn't this video have more views???!!!! Oh, nevermind... I know why, because people will stand on non-fact based believes and values more than actual facts...

Amazing how she assumes her side to be science side and her opponents in a sea of ignorance. Her definition of science is the science that only supports her hysteria.

I beg to disagree on the definition of scientific literacy. Knowing basic science facts isn't what constitutes scientific literacy. Knowing how science is carried out, the processes it involves, why it exists and what it serves for, that is what constitutes scientific literacy. And that is why our "western educational model" (I'm talking from Brazil) fails miserably. Before you teach evolution, before you teach what atoms, protons and quarks are and how they make up our bodies and stars, you have to teach about the scientific method, about rationalism and empiricism, about logic, validity and soundness of an argument, and about truth and it's conceptual philosophical problems, and you have to make sure people give to that knowledge the importance it deserves, because one cannot understand contemporary society and the plethora of meaning relationships it depends on without it. Without that whole body of knowledge, knowing what atoms are won't prevent you from believing evolution is a fraud, Earth is flat, climate change is a hoax, or any other anti-intelectual conspiracy theory out there. We are teaching science the wrong way and for the wrong reasons. Aside of that, everything else is on point. Empathy towards the opponent, whenever possible, because it must be held both ways, is essencial for mutual understanding and for the construction of political consensus. We do not negotiate with people we see as enemies, we can only negotiate with people we hold in equal grounds to ourselves.

What do you do if you have zero respect for evangelicals? Why do people who live in reality have to be respectful of those who only care about themselves? To manipulate them to change their politics -- I don't see that happening -- at. all.

Imagine that those who you don't respect look at you the same way...
