Yes, this is me. Lost weight on the scale and one inch on my waist this summer so far. I have been working out and finally getting a lot more rest. I feel a lot better and not as much stress as usual when I am teaching 3+ classes Zumba. I am reducing weight and hope to go down another 2 inches from 27 inches to 25. It's true about lack of sleep and stress. Great information Melissa! Thank you 😀

Thank you so much 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 I'm going to do everything I can to not gain any belly fat 💪🏻I'm not in menopause but I've been trying to get rid of this belly pooch for years!! But I realized I've been doing it the wrong way but now I'm on the healthy correct weight loss healthy journey, but with the insulin resistance thing that means we can't eat sugar and too many carbs, I don't eat junk food no process carbs I only eat healthy whole foods carbs but does that mean with menopause we can't eat dried fruit ? I love dried fruit more than fresh fruit but it's higher in sugar and carbs is it okay to eat dried fruit with menopause? Dried fruit does have fiber and nutrients but I worry about the carbs and sugar

I’ve done a lot of work on stress and sleep in the last couple of years, I know that’s the part that needs to be worked on first to get it out-of-the-way to make way for the diet exercise so we have a greater impact. However, life happens, and although my stress is not chronic anymore, I do have intermittent stressors, and I deal with a Disability, there’s not health related per se, so doesn’t affect my metabolism or my immune system or anything. (It is blindness/Low vision) so sometimes I can get stressed from some things that caused frustration short term… And this can actually be channeled and useful if I focus it toward a workout :-) in fact, sometimes I will use this feeling to push through particularly difficult part of the workout. So sometimes, like hitting a punching bag, or a pillow when you’re mad, i’m trying to utilize this otherwise I don’t really have any severe chronic stressors and I’m 53 so I’m still considered by my doctor to be perimenopause. I was skinny most my life and now I’m starting to put on what I consider to be healthy weight, so now I’d like to get it all tone… My diet not terrible, but I go through phases where I’ll negotiate some “healthy“ desserts, because I make them myself and control the amount of sugar and stuff, etc.… Your videos have been very helpful, but I struggle a lot with exhaustion and can’t do a full lengthy workout. wish there was a short version that was still have some impact that I’m looking for. I also wish I could get some direct customized guidance from you, but I’m not financially able to at this time :-) watching all I can of your videos!

It sounds like you're navigating a lot, and it's impressive how you're using exercise to manage stress and maintain health despite challenges. Tailoring your workouts to fit your energy levels and needs is crucial. Consider exploring shorter, high-intensity workouts that can still offer significant benefits. Keep focusing on your diet and finding balance with healthy treats. Keep up the great work, and I'm glad my videos are helpful to you!

I've been doing all of these for years. Except the higher protein and the strength training. Just started 5 weeks ago, and suddenly my sleep is crap. Waking in the middle of the night every night when before I slept deep and well for 8 hours every night. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
@MelissaNeill Жыл бұрын
Our bodies change as we age so there could be things that we're able to do before, but not anymore. You may want to take on strength training and focus on proper nutrition. You can also check out supplements for better sleep.
@ToniAnnBarandon Жыл бұрын
@@MelissaNeill I'm guessing this was an automated reply, because my comment mentioned I'm already strength training. My nutrition is on point. I'm a nutritionist firstly. And I'm dedicated to health. I'm eating more protein because I'm training with weights 4 x a week. I'm not very interested in supplementing without understanding the real underlying cause of the sleep issues first, and hopefully fixing it at the root rather than treating symptoms. My guess is I'm over training and my cortisol is up.
@SJ_Vibezz Жыл бұрын
@@ToniAnnBarandonhave you have all your blood work done? Hope you don’t mind me asking, as you said you wanted to get to the root. Might help. I am saving up for mine privately.
@ToniAnnBarandon Жыл бұрын
@@SJ_Vibezz Hi. Don't mind at all. I do have a saliva test I'll do after Thanks giving if it persists. I agree, testing is always best. But when I said I wanted to fix it at the root, I meant I didn't want to treat symptoms of sleeplessness or use sleep aids. I'd rather stop doing what is causing it in the first place. So, while my cortisol may be up, it doesn't answer what I need to do training-wise to help it go bac to normal. And it doesn't suggest how to proceed properly with training overall. I was hoping Melissa could lend some insight if she had ever over trained or had similar experience. I think it's helpful to hear from others who have gone through it before me so I can continue to train, but properly and not cause cortisol issues.

Not Melissa but I've been down this path - would need a lot more info to try to find the possible problem - how often are you training? How long are your sessions? How heavy are you lifting? How much protein are you eating per day? What percent of carbs and fat are you eating? Are you pre or post menopausal?
