This loving dachshund breed struggles as it is with short legs and a long body. Stuffing a dachshund with food to a point it can barely walk for exercise or have a good quality of life is a sin...it's also animal cruelty and irresponsible.

In USA the stray dogs are usually very well fed so some even become obese. Meanwhile in most of Asia and Africa the stray dogs are usually starving and malnourished and have injuries/infections. 😢 I saw so many hungry malnourished stray dogs when I visited the Philippines 🐶😭

@Earl The Pearl Both are equally bad. The overweight dogs can get arthritis, heart attacks, they have difficulty breathing, they can even get tumors, skin diseases, anesthesia risk, ACL and more. Both are bad, just figure out the amount of food in portions is good for your pet and give that only no more no less. I have a pet and we feed him two times a day in portions. He is now 11 years old, but full of energy, nor overweight nor skinny and most importantly in great health.

We have a mini doxie who has to stay at 10/11 lbs so that he won’t worsen his back (he’s old and insists on jumping despite our best efforts to get him not to, so it’s already bad)

So we took in my grandpa's dog Hank because he needs to go to a retirement home, Hank is obese due to my grandpa overfeeding him because of memory loss problems and just being too old to take him out anywhere. His back legs are also pretty ruffed up and are not in the best shape but he is slowly getting better and we finally got him to the vet. We have our own dog and they both love playing together so he is getting plenty of exercise and toys. Once he starts getting better I will edit the comment :) Right now he is about 123 pounds ( he is a black lab mix ) A healthy weight for him should be around 90 so he has a bit too lose

I'm so encouraged by this!!! Thank you! I was recently given a Doxie, same exact as this one. She was incredibly obese! Looked like a rolled up sleeping bag with little tiny legs! She's been losing so much weight and is so active, now. This is so encouraging! Thank you💕🌼🌭

In USA the stray dogs are usually very well fed so some even become obese. Meanwhile in most Asian countries and African countries the stray dogs are usually starving and malnourished and have injuries/infections. 😢 I saw so many hungry malnourished stray dogs when I visited the Philippines 🐶😭

They are actually often hungry in the US as well. Most begin to lose weight rapidly once a stray. As sad as it is, she likely got this way under the "care" of her owner who was just feeding her pizza, burgers, etc. She got too fat to walk so her owner dumped her somewhere. Considering the fact that she couldn't walk or run to hide anywhere, she was likely found very quickly by a nice soul who brought her to the shelter. That is usually how these super obese pets come into the shelter: they are either dumped because it is too much for their excuse of an owner or directly surrendered by their owner.

China , Thailand,etc. eat them. That must be spoken against and changed. Koreans torture and then eat them thinking the torture will make the meat taste better. Strange how BARBARIC AND CRUEL are humans to other creatures. Humans can soar to unbelievable heights yet sink to Unbearable lows having no respect for other species ....or their own, for that matter.

Puerto Rico as well have starving strays everywhere. I wish to be a Billionaire and address animal neglect/abuse. I do so in my own tiny way whenever I see a suffering, hungry animal OR person, too. Lets all do that.

Whoever it was was probably feeding her table scraps. So unhealthy, that's like a sentence of early death for dogs. Their bodies just can't properly process the rich food we eat as human species and making them do so by overfeeding could literally kill them

@@michelled.6001 table scraps are not bad for dogs or cats as they would eat raw meat in the wild it's just the amount of food as a dog's food intake needs to be significantly lower than a humans due to their size and body shape
