I'm just here to convince you that capsule hotels are cheap and TOTALLY worth a try if you're trying to stay in central Tokyo while you travel. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Those curtains aren’t soundproof, it’s better if you voice over during editing or talk outside. There’s a mutual understanding amongst capsule users that the pods are quiet spaces.

That's what I was thinking. Did you really need to making popping sound effects with your lips and tap your nails against the walls, Hannah? Other than that small criticism, it was an interesting vid!

Kevin PowerUp I’ve stayed at my share of capsules and have had a few run-ins with vloggers filming late at night. It’s not fun when you’re trying to catch a few hours of sleep for that early morning flight and someone is “oh cool, this is amazing, blah blah blah”

Capsules are a great experience, I stayed in one with a sauna, cold pool and communal washroom. Capsules are only open from 4pm to 9am, they kick you out during the day for cleaning, if you are staying multiple nights you can leave your big bag in the locker but you can't come back until 4pm if you need something.

I don’t know why but no matter how many of these capsule hotels I see, it’s still interesting. I find through these videos that the smaller size room and increased multifunctions within the rooms, it may be cheaper. But persons area able to do greater things like read or study. But there is less sound insulation between the pods. If I was solo traveling I would enjoy just staying in the capsule to rest during my nights. Thanks for sharing Hannah. Aloha

Stayed at one for a night in Osaka during my recent first trip to Japan. Didn't feel too claustrophobic, was surprisingly quiet, and also had some pretty nice amenities in the bathroom as well. It's basically just like staying in a hostel except more privacy. As an older traveller who sometimes likes to veg out instead of party at night, I don't think it would be something I would like to do the whole trip, but for a cheap place to crash for one night it went well and I slept great! The only other caveat is the narrow plastic ladder and then having to crawl into my higher "bunk" took enough concentration that I would not want to be a drunk Japanese businessman getting in and out of that thing.

@z-mackdos6echo311
@z-mackdos6echo311 5 жыл бұрын
The questions I have are...... 1, the time of year seems like the temperature is moderate so you don’t need a coat? 2, the temperature in the hotel seem comfortable? Was the air flow nice, it wasn’t stuffy? It seems like a train sleeping compartment. Not too claustrophobic? Were there outlets in the capsule for charging? Was there detergent for laundry? I’m assuming so since the restroom was fully stocked. I take it they supply the shower shoes aka bathroom foot wear? Was that a mirror in the compartment! It was wider and much more private than my sleeping compartment in the navy. If you had any questions who would you ask? You know the ins and outs of the lifestyle there, but not knowing specifics I know I’d have questions so as not to do anything unknowingly unacceptable. I really wish this information from your channel was available during my time in the navy when I was in Japan, it would have made it easier to travel around there and not have the issues I had.

Good review for カプセルホテル! Btw do you know any recommended bars in Tokyo for dancing and drinking? Sometimes i take my friends tokyo tour but am not sure where is good place before clubbing. I live in Tokyo and my friends are foreigners. Thanks:)

Lolz, I rented a room on Airbnb for about $20 a day. I had 2 bathrooms with shampoos and others, 2 toilets, a kitchen, a washing machine, a towel and I had a fridge in my room. The room itself had around 10-12m2. And I was living near the Senkawa station :D it's like 2 stations away from Ikebukuro station.

It's actually quite alright. I recently was forced to spend a few extra days in Tokyo without my spouse and tried a few capsule hotels (they really are the cheapest options there). You will have noticed that there are no actual doors, or anything to shield you sound-wise from the outside, it's just a sort of blind that comes down. While that may be less good for quietness, it aids in ventilation. The individual capsules do not have any ventilation, but the "hotel" as a whole is very well climate controlled, and since you can't actually physically shut yourself in, the temperature in these capsules is actually perfect. Well, it was for me in the ones I stayed at... Hope this helps, even if it was a little long-winded.

@@peek118 I didn't actually hear anyone snore. Don't know if that's because there actually was decent sound insulation, or just no one snoring. However, the ones I stayed at also provided ear plugs, if that sort of thing works for you

@@peek118 oh and take an eyemask. There usually is quite a bit of light leak coming in. So just in case...

If you want any kind of privacy, pod "hotels" are the cheapest option. Maybe I should have made that distinction in my comment. They essentially are hostels, except everyone gets their own little private space.

I like that it's just a pull down blind instead of a lockable door, because I would be too paranoid that my stay would become a horror movie called Capsule where I'm locked in and can't get out.

Tried a cabin hotel in Kyoto and it was extremely hot once sealed (Also no AC), I didn't sleep at all. Might as well have been in a coffin with a hole for air. Tried a capsule hotel in Tokyo after and even with the AC on max I was roasting, 0 sleep. Maybe I just went to the shitter hotels but for anyone like me who finds it hard to get to sleep, I recommend looking for a similarly cheap airBNB or something like that instead
