Will you have enough travel with that setup? I used to use MR2 SW20 rear struts in my corolla strut tubes. You can get aftermarket stuff readily available. Plus you cut down the stock strut tube about 40mm. This fits the OE sized MR2 rear strut, and gives you more usable stroke. I also weld a 1/2 thick section of pipe over the OD of the strut for the new sleeve to sit on. I used to have write ups for all this but the crash of photobucket took a bunch out. The rear with 2" blocks will pick up a rear inside tire while on hard cornering. Love the build!

A nice tip I learned when I put brand new coilovers on my car was after I got my height where I wanted, I went back in there and wrapped electrical taped around the rest of the exposed threads so if I ever needed to readjust again after driving around a while, I’d just unwrap the tape and it would be super easy. Just a way to keep it clean and easy for the next time 👍🏽 but I love your vids man I can’t wait to see the rest of the progress

@rub3n0st4 жыл бұрын
@@deadslow201 Yeah because old guys doesn't do this? Have had shrapnel in the eye two times so bad i had to go to the doctor to get it removed. Both of that times i used safety glasses (should prob. used a full cover glasses or skiing goggles, but yeah they fog up) And i still use a flap disc to just take of some rust or something small sometimes without using glasses. If im using a cutting disc, carbon disc, those metal strings cleaning discs or doing grinding work i always use glasses. So yeah you should use glasses, but for using a flap disc on some light rust for 20 seconds isnt gonna make you go to the doctor with shrapnel in the eye if your not using the grinder completely wrong.

Don't those collars have to be welded on? Is Ground Control cool with just using bands to keep tension?
@T0tenkampf2 жыл бұрын
the o rings are from GC and probably to keep moisture out. The collar isnt going anywhere when it is sandwiched between the old spring perch and the coil tension.
@LukeTheJoker4 жыл бұрын
Surprised you didn't go with a steel threaded coilover sleeve kit. The advantage with them is you can weld them to the strut sleeve rather than relying on rubber O rings to stop the rattling. Also, I didn't see you refill the sleeve with oil/trans fluid to help with heat dispersion, was there a reason for that?
