Back in the 80s when I grew up, my dad flipped cars and I was always intrigued. I would pretend I was wrenching on something but... he never really wanted me around. I learned about autos on my own. So it's dope to see you have your boy around with you, that's love I never had with my punk ass dad.

I’m guessing that top ope port on your carb is the vent to allow atmospheric pressure in the float bowl. Or for cars with a carbon fuel vapor trap system it would connect by hose to that piece of smog equipment. If it the bowl vent do not plug it.

The unknown port is a vapor vent. You can leave it open. It’s not needed for anything. A ton of carbs have them Edelbrock/Weber mostly.
@wesleyd.A104 жыл бұрын
You mentioned the hole for the air filter base plate right? If so... it's for venting the crankcase with the "white elbow" part that was with the air filter hardware. IF you are going to be using the to ventilate the crankcase. You will need an oil catch can. And, run a hose from the valve cover to the oil catch can; catch can to the 45° elbow for the air filter base plate. (IF You want to do this?) And, your 32/36mm progressive weber is like a stock replacement for that Aisan carburetor minus All of that vacuum lines on the 2TC engine. The 38mm dges electric "outlaw" carburetor. Both throttle plates move at the same time, VS the 32/36mm the bigger side of the this carburetor will open up on demand for more gas to be dumped into the engine when you floor it! Sorry for the loose explanation!!! I'm getting tired and just wanted too explain a little bit about the weber as best as I can. Aloha! P.S. Pierce Manifolds is an Awesome company! I bought some stuff from there before! There customer service and returning of items is Very Good!

Don't know if you ended up figuring it out or not since I noticed later in the video you have it blocked off with a brass bolt, but that "giant port on top of the carb" is apparently the float bowl vent. It's an emissions thing which is why they don't all have them, so it isn't necessary and you can leave it blocked off.

Dwell tach, Your back pressure or lack there of will affect where you set timing. Backfiring in the muffler, might be running a bit on the rich side, gas in the muffler firing off might also deform your muffler or worse.

If you planning on keeping the stock grill you can use chrome door edge trim from your local auto parts for a neat, shiny brand new look just for a few bucks. Cut the strip and place along the vertical fins in your stock grill, takes a few minutes and looks will be worth it once you complete it.

Hey man really like your videos and enjoy watching all your builds. If you want the car to back fire / crackle under engine brake take off the vacuum advance on the disy and the port in the top of the Webber that u are not to sure about normaly goes to the tapper cover for pcv but don’t hurt it if u block it off and vent the tapper cover to atmosphere
