Hey man I like how you improvised and created your own stud welder, great idea. Definitely make that investment when you can, it’ll make life a lot easier for you. Also, after you apply your filler, before it fully hardens, while it’s still a little soft use a “cheese grater” to do the heavy shaping work. Get it in the neighborhood of where you want it and then let it fully harden the rest of the way. Then use 80 grit on either a DA or a pneumatic straight line sander to further refine the shape, then sand with 180 using those same tools and finish with a quick block with 180 by hand. After that you’re ready for high build 2k primer. Apply a guide coat and block the primer by hand with 320. You can finish it out with 320 on a DA if you’re going to use a sealer primer before your basecoat, otherwise finish it with 600. To speed up sanding your panels and to work “smarter not harder”, get a DA and outfit it with a 3m hookit pad and a foam interface pad. You can use that to quickly prep your panels for paint or primer. Lastly, throw a few bucks into your paint booth room. Clear it out, clean the floor, paint the walls and ceiling bright white and get yourself a bunch of 8ft led lights from Home Depot.

@adamfreeborn29694 жыл бұрын
A couple pointers for ya. Dont use bodyfill to fill in holes. It shrinks eventually. Bf is only good for scratches and minor dents. Short strand fiberglass is what you have to use. Also use a guidecoat whenever doing bodywork and qhen sanding primer. Just lightly dust paint on so you will be able to find high n low spots. You will thank me in the long run.been watchin this build since the beginning. Looking good

@misterjoseira714 жыл бұрын
Hey Caleb you doing great mate. Can wait more then five days to see you progress on that thing and find out what happens and what colour you going to use on it. Late 70's there was some metallic colours out there, I think that it would look really good with a king of candy brown metallic colour, but over all it will look great, after all it is a budget project and you have to keep thing on the low low. Take care gratings fon the UK.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned and I know ur not driving the car yet but looks like your front tyres need swapping from one side of the vehicle to the other as they look like a rotational tread pattern which needs to face a certain way otherwise they will either melt in the heat of draw water into the tread instead of dispersing it out of the tyre tread. I may be wrong be worth checking it out though

Hey, so far, the Corolla is a 5 - I'm sure it'll be another 5 by the time its done. Not sure if you can find these for lighting up your shop - or something similar in AL's COSTCOS . They are LED, you can connect one to a regular plug and link up to six to each other. Koda 116 cm (45.6 in.) LED Linkable Shop Light with Motion Sensor and Remote Item 1600034 $ 47.99

Body work and sanding can be enjoyable if you have the proper tools and equipment to do the labor for you. Doing stuff by hand, especially in that Alabama heat can’t be easy. Like anything else, there’s a process to body work and paint. Once you get it down it’s a lot easier. I love it.

Look up Bell & Howell Tri Burst LED lights. They screw in like a regular bulb and provide something like 4000 lumens. They bring three panels you can move and point. I have one in my garage and boy is it bright. They have them at the Home Depot too!

Definitely get 4’ LED shop lights and all the big box stores sell cheaper models. For a small shop/garage even some of the 3000 lumen versions will give you plenty of light at low cost. Watch for a Harbor Freight sale/coupon for their LED shop lights. I have several and they work great for about $20 each. Also if you have a garage ceiling (can’t remember) paint it white for a bunch of reflective power. And paint your garage walls white at least from half way up the wall to the ceiling. It’s a cheap way to really help your shop lighting.

Vermont has “energy efficient Vermont” which is a real low cost on LED lighting, I can source whole sale LED lighting through my old boss if your able to install it yourself. Lifting is very minimal amperage, you could put at least 8 led fixtures on your existing lighting circuit.

I completely lit up my garage with Sunco Lighting LED ceiling light fixtures. Relatively cheap, plug into outlets, and can Daisy chain into each other. They sell on eBay and Amazon but it's cheaper on eBay. I bought 4 for a 2 car garage and everything is completely lit now. Almost too bright.

It would be kinda cheap but easy and fast to set up get rgb leds or even just bright white ones but get enough to cover the whole outside and two center lines providing more light to the center I didn’t put any up in a shop but I use them in my room instead of a normal light and it provides great light quality just an idea tho love the videos and keep up the great content the Corolla looks great too love that thing 👍🏻
