West Coast 2: She Awakes for a BAD Landing

Jaime fell asleep in the back somewhere over Iowa or Missouri and missed a lot of rural America. Eastern Kansas looks like the worlds biggest cow pasture with all the rolling grasslands. Western Kansas and Oklahoma is barren and brown.
Time for a fuel stop in smelly Dalhart, TX. I came in high/fast with a high density altitude and a (unknown at the time) quartering tailwind...all that made for a pretty bad landing!

At landing, Jaime smelled the Dalhart economy! They have a dozen or more cattle feedlots with over 100,000 head each. Lots of methane! Nice trip! Hope you note the volcano and the crater on your way to GC.

Kevin, this is so great !!! I have only seen that area from airliner altitudes a couple times and anxious to fly over it myself and have thought the same about why the sectional turns brown. Surface of the moon loved it !!! Jamie ... our daughter describes that seat and nappability !!! in our 310 !! great great video again, thanks for sharing. Take Care

I'm really glad to find more of your videos posted! I've wondered what you all had planned after learning you were selling 1BC. Thought maybe keeping up with work, kids, and all the extra work doing videos might have overwhelmed you yo where you need a break from it all. I've always loved watching your videos you're both a very nice young couple that I think highly of so I hope to see more videos even maybe in a new plane or jet even in the future!!! I got a kick out of how you kept busy and focused while sleeping beauty was napping in the back! I think it actually helps having the video Cams going. You know we'll all be watching and it keeps us into the video and your talking to "us" helps you keep from getting too bored! I'm not a pilot. Just an old guy that enjoys flying and dreamed of becoming a pilot but never happened for me but I love watching you two enjoy yourselvrs!!yourselves!!! Best wishes to you both!!!

I have lived in the Texas Panhandle my entire life. That smell is the smell of money around here! Dalhart hosted an air show last year and I had the opportunity to sit in on the pilot briefing with the F-18 and A-10 pilots who were going to fly in the show. I have never felt less qualified to be in a room! Love the channel!

Not a big issue for the 310 for take off. I operate a 310P(normally aspirated) out of a 5300ft altitude strip and summer temps of 30 plus degrees celcius I see DA of around 8300ft. Even heavy I am normally airborne around 3000ft down the rwy

You flew south of our farm about 60-70 miles in western KS. Around GCK. Dryland farming for the most part, and many feedlots. It's hot, dry, and windy out here. Avg rainfall in the 18-22" range. Easy to find a spot to land if engine goes out, lol. Best place to learn how to land w/x-winds. Be safe.

I've drove through Kansas 6 times going to my Brother's home in Denver Colo. I can tell you .that is a long drive through Kansas . The whole state is mostly wheat land .Lot of farms .Hot ,and dry most of the time except in winter. Then it's cold as hell..... Feels like you're in the middle of no where. If you ever get to fly over the bad lands in South Dakota, now that looks like the moon scape. Safe travels Y'all..........

I live and lfy in Denver. Density altitude affects performance. If you can master control at high altitude airports, you'll grease your landings in the flat lands. If your experience is all flatland, there's adjustments that need to be made with higher elevations. Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing!!!!
