This also shows how much the older generation set their children up for failure in these situations. No one really taught our generations anything about finances, and then they hold what no one taught us over our heads. I mean, look at how quickly the parents finished the golf course challenge, laughing the whole way, while the kids struggle to understand what they're reading or calculating. Those parents have no right to laugh at what they caused.

That's ridiculous. The older generation was also not taught about finances but they had the common sense to work and live responsibly.

Yes, and The Parents do that without realizing. Also some folks may disagree with me but when you are an Only Child, you get all of the attention and you don't know how to compromise. Another thing that The Husband should have worn is an Apron. When folks ask why he's wearing the Apron it's because he doesn't know how to remove the Apron Strings from his family.

Here in North America credit card companies are now focused on getting kids hooked on credit cards, always see the commercials aimed at the kids! Unless they have parents who use credit cards wisely, like paying it off every month, there are going to be millions more trapped in credit card debt!

In her culture, the parents take care of the kid... boy, in countries like the Philippines, the children start contributing to the household very early on. People live together because it's financially impossible to move out. He should have gotten on an accelerated program to graduate early and start working immediately. His parents did this manchild such a disservice. I don't even feel bad for them. They did this to themselves.

My advice is to give up your credit card for a while. Ask credit counseling or national debt consolidation or last resort file a bankruptcy it may hurt 7 years, and you start a new fresh life. We all have debt because what we want and do not need. Learn from mistakes and use all tools to track everything. This couple is so lucky to have parents who helped place to live and house bill. I was out on mom house at age 19 years to start working and go to school.

He wants to complete an undergraduate degree and then go to dental school? I don't know what Canada is like, but dentistry here in the UK is incredibly competitive, amd it takes a long time to qualify. I'm not sure how realistic that is when there's about to be a baby to take care of. I'm glad they seemed much more "on it" at the end. I was actually a bit surprised that she didn't give the whole 5k, as though he's not an outwardly vigorous man, it seems like they both tried hard.
