We’ve reduced our spending quite a bit as we’ve gotten older. We both had to help our moms sort through a mountain of stuff when they moved into assisted living. We don’t have kids, and it isn’t too likely our nieces/nephews are gonna want to do it for us either. But we buy everything we can second hand, and have done so over 30 years. We just aren’t flashy people, and have never cared what people thought. It suits us just fine. Cheers!

Help me understand this - they are not even married, he's saddled with her two kids, the baby they had together and she feels that she can shop, shop, shop? Where is the child support from the other baby daddy(ies?) What's wrong with buying good, used baby furnishings and clothing? Why is she buying food and wasting it by throwing it out? If he left her, she'd be up a creek because she'd only have reasonable child support for their joint child, would have to make a real living and also support her two other kids. How about a little gratefulness to the man who stepped up to the plate when he didn't have to?

My sister has a daycare and she shops flea markets and garage sales for toys and books for the daycare. She takes them home, cleans and disinfects them. Parents also give her their used toys when their kids outgrow them. I don't understand parents buying new clothes for little ones. I think she is one of the most real participants in this show. We know that addictions are hard to kick and take a long time to overcome. Too many times we see people with habits that span years just look at the numbers and all of the sudden they are cure and that's just not how it works. Am pretty sure she is gout to keep "relapsing" into shopping and the husband needs to be ready to pull her back. We still don't understand what's driving her shopping impulses so the fact that they stuck to the budget six weeks later when they were technically still being watched doesn't fill me with confidence. Really wish we could get updates on these couples.

Shopping addiction is just much of an addiction as drugs or alcohol. It can't be changed in a period of 4 weeks or 10 weeks. It is a lifelong challenge. I'm hoping she was successful and that she will be able to curb her desire to spend but I'm not as confident as most of you. She comes across as spoiled and entitled and those behaviors also don't change overnight if at all.

No bad habits can be changed overnight. Gail is not helping she is showing off. Long-term changes are quiet and long. Her help is like a restrictive diet for obese person. Once done, the person is back to bad habits. What obese person needs is a permanent lifestyle change. The same person with bad spending habits. No one is going to reduce spending by 80% on a daily notice and keep with it permanently.

Tbh, there's something off about her. Always crying with every meeting with Gail, no emotion when she speaks other wise... and she never wiped the tears away. That was exactly what I thought. She has such dead eyes, odd blinking and flat affect, only showing distress when called out. Her wooden speech at the end repeating what she had heard regarding child needs was off-putting and creepy.
