I rewatched 6 yesterday and the key amanda is wearing looks identical to the key Jigsaw leaves for his ex wife Jill to open the box he left her. Though i'm not sure why she would wear it in the first place nor why jigsaw wud give it to amanda in the first place

The IMS review of the Saw series mentioned that there's a huge flaw with Adam's placement in the bathtub in the first film - i.e. that the bathtub is full of water, meaning that he could easily have drowned in there before waking up (and there's really no way to time that kind of thing precisely). But now you've drawn attention to it, it's making me think that the bathtub wasn't actually *supposed* to be filled, and that Amanda had tried to make the game unwinnable by filling it with water so that Adam would drown - so it's just dumb luck that he survives to participate at all.

The reason the key is in the tub is unknown but Jigsaw was aware of it. In the first Saw when he stands up from the middle of the floor, he looks to Adam and says “the key to that chain is in the bathtub”. It always bothered me as the game is designed to be winnable and a way out was always an option. Putting the key in the tub, knowing he is about to wake up in it and likely to try to empty the tub, makes no sense. You could argue that he didn’t think that Adam would empty the tub, but Jigsaw is portrayed to be incredibly meticulous and detailed with his games and failing to see how the key being in the tub was a risk would be out of character. Another one that bothered me was that Gordon’s task was to kill Adam by 6 or his family would be killed, but Adam’s was vague and his tape message asked if he would watch himself die or would he “do something about it?” “Something” could be anything.

Even without the sealed door, that first trap was unbeatable. The one chain was VERY deep in his mouth and he would have had to rip his jaw off to get it out which would be fatal.

That one mannequin was used in saw 3D, the way it's tilted is similar to how the lawyer gets tilted up to the 3 spikes that will kill her. Also the key maybe for the shot gun collar, as Amanda did give Lynn the chance to kill her to get the key. Another thing, could other writers or something have placed detective Hoffman into the series an not Adam?

I think the key that amanda wears was for Lyn's device ( shotgun collar i think) to free her for keeping john alive for a period of time. It was shown when amanda put the device on Lyn's neck and amanda wore the key like a necklace.

Like Jeff and Lynn being related wasn't revealed in Saw III until the climax when he finds her with Amanda at John's operating table. Or deathbed. Technically both.

I'm pretty sure Hoffman was just made as a tribute to the late producer Gregg Hoffman, he was only supposed to be in the one film since it was supposed to be a trilogy originally with all kinds of changes. They likely changed the script late in so the studio could keep making them while it would stay a trilogy for the OG writer.

Adding to your point about the Rack being a more technologically advanced crucifix, executioners would often break the legs of the crucified victims to speed up their death. Many modern advancements improve machines by designing them to function without the need of human intervention, and the Rack streamlines the crucifix by breaking the legs of the victim by itself (as well as the arms). Even if Jeff did manage to stop the Rack before it killed Timothy, I'm not sure if he would've survived much longer unless John had some way of getting him immediate medical attention. Furthermore, if Jeff did save Timothy, what would he do then? Would Jeff have to leave Timothy there and hope the authorities get there in time to help him? Would Jeff leave Halden (assuming he didn't get shot in this hypothectical scenario) to look after Timothy while he goes on ahead? Would Jeff have to somehow get Timothy out of the Rack and carry him on his back?
