Driving my Caddy today is absolutely no fun. It is nothing like the luxury and comfort, beauty, and just plain old fun to drive cars like your 1992 !

People don't understand they say 80's and early 90's cars had little power they were no good. NO. It wasn't about lots of power, or on a rail handling. It was about the style, about the comfort. And people weren't in such a huge rush back then.

>Tyler Covey: Early 80's cars were way short on power and build quality was hit or miss. Driveability was kinda shoddy with electronic feedback carbs. They ran much better when they started using EFI. 90's cars are actually powerful and drive about as good as any 2010's or 2020's car. This 92 Brougham accelerates well and has no problem keeping up with modern traffic even with its modest power rating (which was decent for 92). It's driveline is tuned to utilize maximum torque at low RPM.

@@TeeroyHammermill oh I whole heartedly agree with you. My father was a mechanic in those days and they also ran allot better without the converters too. But like my dad said they had to start somewhere so those early cars were like experiments, some gone horribly wrong lol.

Speaking as a man who owns a 1976, 1984 and 1994 Cadillac, I agree with you about it being about the style and comfort. These cars are just SO comfortable and literally float down the road. The 1994 has a lot of power because its the Fleetwood with the Chevy 350 LT 1 engine, but the others just float nice and easy down the highway. No rush. No worries.

Little power is relativ. HP wasn´t great but decent, more important however was low end torque and you had enough of that. Nowadays cars are often having rather ridiculous amounts of horsepower anyways. You need adequate power to blend in with traffic and get around. But nowdays it needs to be a sedan or stupiduv with 500+ hp or else it´s already considered underpowered even so a) most people can´t even handle that power without traction control (we see enough of those failed human beings on car meetings when they try to look cool but end up jamming their car into a tree or worse) and b) the road isn´t a racetrack so there is a limit of what amount of power makes sense. Sadly with every wacko car review outlet getting off on "road feel", "sportiness" and "track times" anything that was just about floating over the road was pretty much given a bad review. Luxury barges don´t do well on the track, but there is no better way to cruise and relaxe. If i wanted "road feel", "sportiness", "track time" i would buy a race car and go racing.

My besty passed from a long, long health issue leaving two primo, ultra low mileage luxury cars in the garage. I was given the task of getting them rolling again so that they could be sold. Perfect looking as they were, inside and out, there was a good deal of effort and money invested in getting them safe to drive (i.e. rusted fuel lines, rusted fuel tanks, seized fuel pumps, rusted brake lines, and rubber seals, tires, gaskets that dry rot). Personally familiar with these Cadillacs, they were popular with family, friends, colleagues, and there are a lot a things that need attention at that age, even with low mileage.

If this has the 350 it's simply a detuned version of the 1990s Corvette/Camaro Z28/Firebird Formula/Trans Am 350. Which means lots of bolt on, easy, and cheap go-fast parts to turn this Brougham into a sleeper!

Joe got the good stuff. I own one of these. It's a partner not a mechanical slave. 180 horses is good enough.

It's not good to let the fuel in a car this old get so low. It not only can create moisture in the gas tank, but also suck up a lot of crap from the bottom of the tank .

The last old style American Cadillac. Too bad the majority of customers stopped liking this concept of cars. The trend is now in favour of good road handling, which is not so important giving speed limits.

So loud. Obviously has significant steering problems. You should totally sell it to me. I'll do it as a favor. ;)
