1: Yes ordinary bullets are mad of metal BUT its still less metal than for a whole gun which means you still have an higher change to pass the detector. 2: And yes it is makeable to craft cartridges out of plastic or even 3D-Print them. Also withe an non-metal projectile. Maybe not as good as an regular wapon and amo but deadly.

@@MB-yk1qk You have zero idea what you are talking about. This whole thing baffles me. As a Brit I’m not troubled by firearms or how freely available they are, we simply don’t have a large problem with firearms offences. So you want a gun? So you want to shoot someone and you know that you won’t be allowed a firearm? Do you a) buy a very expensive printer, learn how to use it properly, make several failed attempts to make it correctly, eventually get lucky and make a gun that’s good for one shot before you have to reload it or b) buy a gun on the black market that is unregulated and can fire multiple shots efficiently and effectively? If you have a criminal record and aren’t allowed to hold a firearm, why would you make the worst firearm that exists? I just don’t think that printed weapons pose the threat in the U.S. that the media would have you / us believe.

1. These Plastic Guns mostly explode because of cheap plastic 2. It's easier and cheaper to build a gun by yourself 3. You still need to get Bullets 4. The gun needs a metal nail as a fireing pin and the bullets can also be detected by a metal detector 5. These Guns are one shot guns, they're pretty inaccurate and you can throw most of them away after one shot 6. These Guns are mostly a bigger threat to the shooter than the person who gets shot 7. There are thousands of instructions on the internet and even on KZbin that show how to build a Gun 8. Getting a good 3D printer is way more expensive than just buying a blackmarked gun

what the media fails to take into account, is that the printers that defense distributed is using printers that cost tens of thousands of dollars. they lay plastic in a completely different ways, the printers most people can buy for say sub $5000, extrude plastic from a roll (FDM Style) and it is not nearly as strong as the printers defense distributed are using (SLS Style). And your garden variety of 3D printer cannot provide the resolution that is required of say the AR-15 lower that has been so popularized.

You can't ban 3D printers or information, is simply fascist to do so. But 3D printed guns would be a non-issue if ammunition was regulated in U.S. like it is in most countries. If you can't buy guns because of "reasons" you shouldn't be able to buy ammunition either. If you have to take a psychological test to have a car than you should also need it for guns. Renewed ever 5 years to make sure you haven't had a psychotic breakdown. A "background check" is not good enough. Sure I can 3D print a gun here in my country, but I can't buy ammunition without a gun license and it is not like I can 3D print brass cartridges or smokeless powder either.

Funny bit is, with the same logic; every person in this chat knows how a nuke works. Every single one of us, if given the motivation could build a dirty bomb in there garage. But the simple fact of the matter is, we don't. The wrong questions keep being asked every time. How can we regulate this, how can we stop this. when it should be. How many mass shooting via 3D printed guns are there? or for that matter how many shooting with 3D printed guns are there? Or pipe shotguns? This crap keeps coming back over and over and over, people have been making there own guns for YEARS. With the same ingenuity needed to make a 3D printed gun, you can buy a 80% AR-15 lower. and machine it yourself. Its the only part that is regulated. Hell if your really good or good at google you can work on making it full auto. People keep looking at it like: "Oh wow, somebody is going to kill somebody with one of them eventually... should we regulate this?" Simple fact of the matter is, people are flawed. they are going to do what they want weather you try to stop them or not. A person with motivation is the most powerful and dangerous person in the world. Somebody is motivated to make a 3D printed gun for everyone? Neat. If we didn't have people to push the boundary a little, we wouldn't have set foot on the moon. Or cured polio. Or found treatments for radiation sickness and cancer.

@@armymelodyloe1308 You understand that you're wrong, right? First of all, it is not illegal to talk about how to make a bomb. You just pulled that out of your ass. Making bombs is illegal, but you can talk about it in a hypothetical context all day long. Kind of like robbing a bank, or any other crime. If it were illegal to talk about or depict, every actor in Hollywood would be in jail. Second, nobody posted instruction. Talking about the concept of what a dirty bomb would not be illegal, even if discussing the particulars of making a bomb were (which again, it isn't).

Just remember, the whole point of the release of the specs for these plastic firearms was to nullify any future push for banning guns. Now that literally anyone(with a $100k printer) can make one, there is no argument for “getting all the guns”. This gentleman is being cast as the absentminded idiot that unwittingly made the world a more dangerous place. He is actually the most brilliant gun rights activist that ever lived.

I've heard it's actually pretty easy (it's basically a big tube with a trigger; unlike guns, modern RPG launchers don't need to sustain high pressures/temperatures [ie why they're sometimes called recoilless rifles]). The hard part is printing the ammo.

And u can use other materials that aren't plastic and eventually everyone will figure out replacements of key parts to make it work. For 400 you can just buy you a metal gun. Heck, you could get one for 100 if you know a guy. 3d printed guns are impractical at best. And you need metal to fire it, so, 100 percent plastic guns are not real.

The 3D printed gun thing happened at the very least around 5 years ago. For the most part, they don't work. Which is why I have yet to hear anything about a shooting involving a 3D printed gun. And I'm pretty sure assault weapons aren't being used in school or mass shootings. To the best of my knowledge, to buy or to be sold by a gun store, a special and highly expensive licenses is required. Which most people/stores do not have. It was a great bit, I laughed really hard.
