This whole thing baffles me. As a Brit I’m not troubled by firearms or how freely available they are, we simply don’t have a large problem with firearms offences. So you want a gun? So you want to shoot someone and you know that you won’t be allowed a firearm? Do you a) buy a very expensive printer, learn how to use it properly, make several failed attempts to make it correctly, eventually get lucky and make a gun that’s good for one shot before you have to reload it or b) buy a gun on the black market that is unregulated and can fire multiple shots efficiently and effectively? If you have a criminal record and aren’t allowed to hold a firearm, why would you make the worst firearm that exists? I just don’t think that printed weapons pose the threat in the U.S. that the media would have you / us believe.

And your garden variety of 3D printer cannot provide the resolution that is required of say the AR-15 lower that has been so popularized.

Funny bit is, with the same logic; every person in this chat knows how a nuke works. Every single one of us, if given the motivation could build a dirty bomb in there garage. But the simple fact of the matter is, we don't. The wrong questions keep being asked every time. How can we regulate this, how can we stop this. when it should be. How many mass shooting via 3D printed guns are there? or for that matter how many shooting with 3D printed guns are there? Or pipe shotguns? This crap keeps coming back over and over and over, people have been making there own guns for YEARS. With the same ingenuity needed to make a 3D printed gun, you can buy a 80% AR-15 lower. and machine it yourself. Its the only part that is regulated. Hell if your really good or good at google you can work on making it full auto. People keep looking at it like: "Oh wow, somebody is going to kill somebody with one of them eventually... should we regulate this?" Simple fact of the matter is, people are flawed. they are going to do what they want weather you try to stop them or not. A person with motivation is the most powerful and dangerous person in the world. Somebody is motivated to make a 3D printed gun for everyone? Neat. If we didn't have people to push the boundary a little, we wouldn't have set foot on the moon. Or cured polio. Or found treatments for radiation sickness and cancer.

So the ammo is plastic too?? And the firing pin??
@bookashkin6 жыл бұрын
Ammo is usually made with copper. A copper pin is hardly out of reach. Now you can bring your toy into just about any courthouse.

If we’re banning 3-d printed guns we also need to ban pipes and nails because you can make a shotgun that’s more than effect than that.

So when do we print a rpg?
@pierrecurie6 жыл бұрын
I've heard it's actually pretty easy (it's basically a big tube with a trigger; unlike guns, modern RPG launchers don't need to sustain high pressures/temperatures [ie why they're sometimes called recoilless rifles]). The hard part is printing the ammo.

www.amazon.com/s?k=3d+printer&ref=is_s You can literally get a 3d printer for under 400 dollars on Amazon. Wtf are u talking about? I literally took 2 minutes to find that out and if ur persistent u can go straight to the dealer and get a really good one for under a 1000 dollars
@AkaroXIV6 жыл бұрын
Bill A gun made by that and similar grade 3d printers would only explode in your face. To make a gun that fires more than once would require a 3d printer that costs well into the thousands.
@JevPrivate6 жыл бұрын
yeainothat why would I believe any of u guys when u all lie and say u can't buy a 3d printer because it's too expensive and it is such a lie. You got caught in a lie and then just jump to ur next lie until u find one I can bother to google. There are plastics that are hard as metal. And u can use other materials that aren't plastic and eventually everyone will figure out replacements of key parts to make it work. Smh u all are all just liars and propagandist who don't care about anyone but ur selves
@daturner19856 жыл бұрын
For 400 you can just buy you a metal gun. Heck, you could get one for 100 if you know a guy. 3d printed guns are impractical at best. And you need metal to fire it, so, 100 percent plastic guns are not real.
@JevPrivate6 жыл бұрын
Chef David many want untraceable guns that can't be caught with a metal detector. It's not only about how easy it is to get a gun.

"we dont encourage peopel to drive drunker" no but government does increase the barriers to services like uber that has drastically reduced drunk driving more than any check point or road pirate trap ever has. Interesting the state is supposed to protect the public's safety but goes out of its way to make it more difficult than it needs to be.

The 3D printed gun thing happened at the very least around 5 years ago. For the most part, they don't work. Which is why I have yet to hear anything about a shooting involving a 3D printed gun. And I'm pretty sure assault weapons aren't being used in school or mass shootings. To the best of my knowledge, to buy or to be sold by a gun store, a special and highly expensive licenses is required. Which most people/stores do not have. It was a great bit, I laughed really hard.
