Now that I see it without the string I think it maybe cooler than slice bread

Really cool! Can you upload your design to shapeways?

Great work! What AM process is used to manufacture the wings and fuselage? Surely it's not 3D printing (as in Z-Corp)? Are they SLA parts? Just curious!

what did they use for stabilization in the untethered flights?

string is only a guide

@casawsome Did you watch the whole thing? More than half is untethered flight.

Cool video but the channel was dead 4 years ago so rip

Now use gyrosensors, Control board, multiple motors for computed stable flight..

And now they can print a whole house to organs etc... Damn, waiting for the singularity is boring still

Why did you have training wheels on your bike? You were not an expert on the first run.

@Helmutlozzi You do. Because you just replied. I saw it fly trough the video and a guy just told me why it does have a string to keep it up. Just like I wrote. Also, don't get mad for nothing boy. Internet isn't your life.

unbelievable.....

to keep the vibrating contraption from flying everywhere... the string is tied to a structure above and to the structure below so the ornithopter wont move forwards backwards or side to side... only up and down........ make any sense?

insignificant, not an achievement, not innovative, not creative, and worst of all, they're using someone else's invention and trying to act like they did something significant. 3d printers have been available for a while now, this entire ornithopter is not fabricated using the 3d printer, merely the wings, its simple, and could be done by any 12 year old that owns his own 3d printer and a free modeling program. They even admitted that through "trial and error" they got it to work. Fools.
