I'm sure you've got it setup by now, but I would highly recommend CF nylon. I use atomic filaments nuclear nylon, it prints really nicely without a heated enclosure. The stiffness provided by the carbon fiber helps to prevent warping during print. I'm using a dyze hotend with their tungsten carbide nozzle on an ender 3, typically at 275C on the nozzle.

This is so amazing! Love your channel. Doing CAD and 3D printing for years now, your channel helps me to get into making carbon fiber parts for my rally car and combine all these techniques. Thanks man!

A while back some guy did a whole...... layout of a Jeep TJ hood. He had underhood temp graphs developed with an actual piece of multi point data equipment.... Then he went ahead and did the whole yarn and tape trick, to see where the low pressure was on to of the hood. He found 2 locations where there was enough low pressure and right over some of the high temps to be useful. He bought some hood vents that where replacements for some car the fit quite well on the hood. He saw a 10° difference idling, 20° while driving.

I bet. You see any of my wind tunnel videos? We’ve tested dozens of different louver designs with pressure probes to measure effectiveness.

Love your channel. I'm in the process of making some brake ducts w fog mounts for my Honda S2k but I don't have a scanner and I just started teaching myself onshape for this project so there was a good bit of trial and error but I finally have a fitment I'm happy with. Driver's side is printing right now and passenger side is already on the car.

Nice video. When scanning thin objects with apertures, I found it helpful to apply a different color masking tape with half of the tape sticking out from the back side to get the exact aperture. I scan in textured mode and crop by the color of the masking tape to easily get an accurate aperture.

The holes in the duct for motor cooling will likely draw air out of the engine bay due to the suction behind the radiator. I have a similar situation and ended up running a couple 2” hoses from the air box in front of the radiator where I have high pressure air.

Since I had pressure probes on the radiator front and rear while in the wind tunnel I’m pretty sure the engine bay will be lower pressure than that specific spot I cut the holes. Would be worth pointing a go pro down there and some wool tufts to confirm tho.

Revopoint will probably give you your own discount code if you have a decent following (looks like you do) Might be better than Amazon. I was like $540 out the door w someones code.

Appreciate the insight and recommendation on the scanner. Gonna try and test it out this weekend with an engine scan.

Just epic dude… scan, design and print with a carbon fibre backdrop… How have you found OnShape?? Looks like there are some good mesh tools…

I like it but I have zero experience with any other cad systems to compare to.

Just spitballing here… is there enough air across the hood for a NACA duct with a hose pointed right on the turbos? I think the Nissan GTR has ducting in that fashion. Edit… even from the bottom to get air onto the turbos. May give up some downforce? Better than having to back off for getting hot.

You are reading my mind. I’m about 3/4 into my next video in real time and 3D printing a naca duct for the headlights to run a duct right to the turbos.

Hey there. Great content. I have a question for you. I’m looking into purchasing a 3D printer and a 3D scanner to scan some car parts, make molds and then make carbon fiber parts. I’ve never done this before and I was wondering what would you recommend? Thx

Hey AJ great video. I was wondering have you done bigger scans with your 3D scanner? like an underbody? If so how did it go? Thanks for all the great content.

Yeah. Go back several videos and I scanned the front of my car and stitched them together for one large scan.

@@ajhartmanaero There are a couple options on the integrated app store, OnScale Solve and Simscale have free for public options, then there's AirShaper wich seems to be on a different league.. Btw, thanks for your videos, they are very educational..

90% sure they did. I was able to say right on people’s bumper without overheating which I wasn’t able to do before.

@@ajhartmanaero The turning vanes on the leading edge is something Ive never seen before so props for innovating. Looks like a simplified F1 barge board setup which may be where you got the inspiration, but I haven't seen anything like that in pro aero cars that have louvers.
