Terrific tutorial video. I particularly like how Mr. Harper explains why he is using particular technique and the detail and precision in which he presents his techniques.

Ran out of room lol. Anyways besides the chamfer issue, I really find the videos quite entertaining in this channel because of the small useful tips here and there. ( Keep up the good work)

Thank you for answering my question so quickly. I didn't realize they had video tutorials for them also. I'll try it that way.

Units are important, it effects some materials, predictable depth of field results as well as lighting. You can change it from cm to mm but it is usually a good idea to setup units , fps and rather or not you are using 2.2 linear workflow before you start anything else in your project.

In Max, anything you can copy you can do so by holding shift and dragging it over. You can try to follow this if you are a beginner but I would recommend doing the 3dsmaxhowtos first. That Chanel covers the beginner stuff very well.

Thanks Kevin, great tutorials (MassFX especially)! Btw, i don't mind the quality at all, if someone wants to learn something the quality really doesn't need to be Full HD :-)

Very good tutorial. But I have some problems figuring out what you did at about 7:33. How did you get three planes which can then be lined up? Thanks for your help. (Although I click on 1080p I have a very bad quality of this video. Any idea?)

Very nice video, in my opinion, chamfering it is a poor choice if your going for a truly clean mesh. I've not built this model persay, but from experience building models like this, I know that areas like the back side of the model where the bottom ledge is will have inconsistencies in smoothness because of the triangulation caused by the chamfer. it is most noticeable when applying a material with a high specular. I recommend making edge loops along the length of the edges instead of chamfer.

I came here looking for a way to make the arm-holes for sleeves. Now I know I can chamfer them. Thanks!

How did you copy the tree at 4:15? I'm sorry, I'm completely new to this.

What you use is usually what ever you where exposed to first. Both are very good programs, and I am currently working on a project with 2 Maya animators so the programs have become much more friendly to each other than they used to be. That said, If you are working in ArchViz, Max might be a better option because it has a direct line to Autocad. In addition, Max has a stronger online community and some neat modeling features that Maya does not. But do not think of me as bipartisan on the matter

Hi Skipper, Thank you. Yes I am trying to figure out how to stop Videopad from interlacing my footage. Sorry. If I figure it out, I will re-upload this video.

If you go back a little you will see that I made the first plane, and then I hold shift while rotating or moving to create a copy.

What swing? As I said in the video, there are many ways to build thing in Max This is one method I like to use but you can also just draw the profile and and extrude it. Depends on how accurate you want to be. This method gives you numbers to run.
