I'll never get tired at looking at the MHW concept art (Especially the Elders Recess one with the Hunter exploring while Teostra, Lao Shao Lung, Akantor and Yama Tsukami just vibing in the background). It doesn't even feel like years have past since I first watched Socks play the MHW demo/beta on the MH channel.

Socks provided some very good insight into the process of improvement from the developers’ stand point. The way he elaborated on what he thought capcom did wrong with the Alatreon fight shows how the information is ultimately processed, and I’m on the side that says nothing was really wrong with Alatreon. Maybe the only thing I would say could be critiqued is that the best weapons for hitting the elemental threshold were locked behind kulve taroth, so a lot of people didn’t have kjarr king or kjarr stream so it was harder for them to hit that element threshold starting off and we all know how bad the kjarr grind was. But yeah, good episode guys!

If you want really good "Documentary" type videos for ffxiv from 1.0 to Heavensward, there are two of them. One is the "Fall and Rise of FFxiv" done by players who played the game from 1.0 to present date. That one focuses more on what the players had to put up with in 1.0 and a better "foot on the ground" telling of a players perspective. This documentary is about 5 years old and Stormblood was next expansion about to be launched. So there is no fear of spoilers on much in that series. The No Clip FFxiv Documentary is on the Development side of FFxiv launch. It is great to let you know how the original devs choices were made and how things were fixed.

I'm so happy to see this episode since alot of criticisms nowadays is more like: "What I want for the game" when it should be.. "What the game needs to improve" Lot of ignorance and such from gamers that doesn't even have any idea on what they are saying. Seeing comments like "MH is EZ now" every generation and saying that's a proper criticism and expecting Devs to acknowledge that shallow complaint and make the game suddenly harder just makes no sense.. You gotta show proper unbiased arguments specially if you want to change something. Yes you can put preference in your criticism but when it overly drowns your argument it makes it superficial and rather a whine rather than a proper informtion for the devs to process.. The Devs are not stupid people mind you and 99.99% of the time already taught of your criticism already.. But decisions must be made and you can only have 1 product at the end.. So presenting the arguments and criticism properly is the best way to let the devs hear your voice..

When it comes to final fantasy 7 remake it's understandable that people are mad that is broken up because you gotta take into account age comes into play some people may not be around for the game before we complete it's the remake.
@Vulcanfaux3 жыл бұрын
It takes longer to beat ff7 remake than it does to beat ff7 original. So yeah even though the remake technically only covers what happens in like the first 2 hours of original, the fact they expanded it to 40-50 for yout initial playthrough and yet somehow make it feel like you are going and hitting all the main points of the original Midgard is amazing. I'm curious how they will even do the rest of the game while still making it more fleshed out like remake. Anyways, what he said about people reaction to world during its reveal, I think thats sort of similar to what people thought during rises reveal. I do remember seeing a few people's reaction thinking rise was going to be like an rpg spin off similar to stories but with a different art style at first.
@XenithflareGaming3 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone who played it actually cares that it's split into parts, the people who complain typically do so because of the unnecessary alternate timeline changes. They'll need a serious payoff to justify making such a massive change in what was already a very good story.

My complaint with Alatreon has always been Escaton Judgement. I don't mind punishments for not reaching an elemental threshold or the elemental threshold itself. I like changing up my build for specific monsters. But why did it have to be an unavoidable instant kill? At least give me a chance to survive if I fail to hit it. Make it a chaotic attack that I have to bullet hell dodge through at the very least. The fight itself was fun and challenging. Just not the instant kill.

PCs we're already at a better price last generation. A budget to mid-range PC from like 2014 was already better than the base Xbone and PS4. Unfortunately, PC started to get really expensive the last 3ish years and then COVID resale prices absolutely butchered any concept of value. :(

59:19 Oh woooow. I thought I was being an idiot for thinking that, but yes. For YEARS I could not get into anything mobile gaming related because "my phone could go off at any moment". I even had that for my laptop way back, like "my Skype could go off at any moment". I really like Socks' take on Alatreon. I just don't think MH's current way of utilizing elements is the correct environment. If its weakness systems were more like, say, Pokemon in that a weakness/resistance actually makes or breaks your damage, it'd be great, but MH never built that kind of environment. A quest line preparing for Alatreon that employs such mechanics might have fixed peoples' issues with Alatreon in particular, but I think a fundamental change to how Element affects weapon damage is much more needed for the series in general. If blights in Rise could work inherently off elemental weapons for example, that would do SO MUCH to incentivize using an element rather than none. Dragon weapons inflicting Elderseal in World is kinda like what I'm thinking here. Oh, that'd be so cool :D

my biggest issue with rise is monster hunter imo works better on a more horizontal playing field. the verticality added in rise really throws off the monsters moveset and how to dodge the attacks. also its focus away from a hunting simulator to more of an action game. its still fun and the gameplay feels like monster hunter but its more monster hunter mixed with DMC than actual monster hunter. also soul reaver is amazing

Funny, i never have good experience going in with raw builds. Most of the times the monster goes berserk at some point and i never could put a hold. But with elemental i always have more control on the fight. Still, that maybe possible sure it was rng. But seriusly, the 20 times i went with raw, 15 the monster kill me once. Since that Day elemental builds was my life. The joy when i learn the kjarr could be upgraded. The one mistake for preparing players to the Alatreon fight its the máster rank requerimient. Lv 24 is not the one. It should have been lv 50 (maybe 70 because Golden, silver and Brute are only available at them) (before they put the Brute one that its 24). Still will be missing the health augment but the experience of hunting those will give more knowledge.

Great episode, very interesting to hear more about community managers and the work they do. But it hurts to hear Socks praise the Bungie community managers though when they were involved in such awful things, lied and hurt people in the Destiny "community", regardless of their good communication about the game. They should be an example of what NOT to do as a CM.

well ya with the main team's ambition and the plans 4 world they kind of had no choice but 2 break from Nintendo since switch is hybrid portabl/home console. they wanted 2 push the limits 2 realize thier vision in a way that couldn't b done before so they had 2 go home consoles 4 world thus not Nintendo. i can't wait 4. as much as i've looking forward 2 sunbreak.like 6th gen will b nut. like them likely using World's engine but not being new 2 it so not say spending a year on Zorah Magdaros cause coding a moving platform in a wider zone that doens't have u slide off of it is fucking hard 2 code but now that all that groundwork is dine in the MHW engine we'll see its quality and depth of world and map design with much more content and monsters since they can just port old skeletons nad focus on making new ones like reworking the leviathans is likely 1 of the top priorities 2 make up 4 the tease of Lagi not bearing fruit
