Hey Scotty. From an old fart, who bought a telescoping rod in 1975, which I still use btw, I learned to 'screw' each section into the next, and to 'unscrew' each section to take it down. It's all old trick from Field and Stream magazine from years ago. It creates a rifled grove over time, which holds the section from getting loose with use. So, you line the eye of the section above one quarter turn counterclockwise, pull it up to stretch it out, give it a quarter turn clockwise, as you snug it tight, then repeat for the next section, one quarter turn counterclockwise sideways, snug, twist one quarter turn clockwise to align with the bottom eye, as you tighten, and so on. Your rod will last longer in gripping each section. The reverse is done for takedown. Hope this is useful.

Recommend ghee or clarified butter which will go in a small plastic container,awsome for your cooking and good in most conditions…melt 500gms butter in pot then tip into jug and cool in fridge,then pop a small hole in hard surface on top and pour liquid into your container,throw what’s left and👌great vid mate and happy birthday👍🎂🍺

Fantastic film Scotty, it takes me back to when I paddled the Snowy in the 1980s! in Olymp 75’s(fibreglass kayaks) neoprene spray decks, wooden paddles, and using our shellite stoves to Cook on a wok. Thanks for showing us on film the places I just relied on my memory to recall. Cheers. Great stuff! Happy birthday too!

Just brought back so many memories of the Snowy River, hiking to Kosciuszko, surviving a blizzard at Lake Albina and taking my sons into one of my favourite locations. Greetings from Wisconsin! And a very Happy Birthday! What a great way to spend it. Absolutely beautiful hills and gorges, river and rapids. Fun rapids and some quite challenging ones. I can relate to Mattsy getting sick from the sun. I think he had heat exhaustion. I had it when in the Bahamas and got pretty sick. Had to go back to the hotel, pull the shades and lie down for hours. Mattsy has a natural sense of humor. So funny, had me laughing. Your poetry reading at the end was so nice. Maybe put up some pics of the baby. We'd love to see them. Thanks

Thanks for the memories. I was part of the willow eradication program for the Snowy River for 10 odd years I've walked kayaked and even had helicopter drops in to parts of were you guys explored. We would spend 10 days in and go home for 4. From Jindy all the way down. Was one of best times of my life exploring this amazing water way. River now looks amazing with no willow trees choking up the system. Thanks again for the memories and tosee the river and the work we done has done wonders to the river 😊

The inland Victoria cicada tends to be a small three centimetre almost black variety. I encountered them years ago on the Upper Buffalo river, they sang from dawn to about 2230.

As a boy I used to go walk-a-bout and you just showed me that Pack Rafts now days are durable. You had a stack and that was heavy too. They call me Bigbird out there.
