1. Perk yourself: be ready within 15 minutes of waking up to go out the door and take a walk. Starts a virtuous cycle. 2. Check yourself: most important thing to do today and an app called time out that pauses your screen every 25 minutes for self evaluation of progress. 3. Free yourself, stop work at 5thirty 4.treat yourself. Use smaller bowls and spoons, and make it harder to get seconds. Makes portion control more enjoyable.

Thank you for these tips! I got up this morning, ate breakfast, found a notebook, walked to a quiet place, took pictures of nature and drew!!!! I love that you took the pressure off by saying the activity doesn't matter, getting out and about matters. I want this to be my new routine.

Halfway through the video and it seems you are showing my life nowadays!! This is so relatable especially since working from home has completely changed my life. I have put on weight, have no social circle, I hardly go out, I am stressed, anxious, irritated, and emotional most of the time, and I don't enjoy things that I used to enjoy before. Hope to get some pointers out of your video to implement in my life. Thank you!!

These small habits make much of a difference. For me it means I have to weigh myself the first thing after waking up and going to bathroom. No excuses, whatsoever! The exact number on the scale does not matter, but the habit of doing it does. - Then I need my coffee, and then I need to go out.... for a walk, mostly. No eating before outing. This start of a day works for me.

That was pretty much my routine and how I lost 20 lb too. Delaying breakfast is hard for me, but it helps a lot with reducing total calorie consumption.

I can't second hard enough how much getting outside in the morning has changed my evenings and sleep schedule. In May I started getting a 25-30 minute stroll in every morning, not first thing, usually within an hour of getting up or so. And not strenuous, because my little dog is the king of the dawdle. And oddly enough I started getting really sleepy at 10pm after this. I've been a night owl my whole life, but something about that morning outside daylight sets me up for a 10pm bedtime. I only realized it fully when I missed a few mornings because of an injury and my sleep got whacky.

Planning the fun stuff/ me-time in the morning is a great tip for skipping the snooze button and going to bed early! I can definitely relate to the chaos of the work day, haha. The "clean your plate" guilt trip is how I lost sense of when to stop eating in the first place - never gonna demand that of anyone. The designated bowls for certain food groups and putting away the food containers/ cleaning before eating are also great ideas!

But I get off work at 5. Why would I stay until 5:30?? 🤪 Personally, I don't work until I am getting paid. Since I am hourly and not on salary, I don't have a work phone, won't use my personal phone for work and will not reply to any work related texts or calls. The rest of these may work for some people, but won't for everyone. A smaller bowl won't stop anyone from simply refilling it. Getting water/drink when I think I want a snack works better for me.

Brain dumping the work stuff at the end of the day is a game changer. A while back, I started writing down all the work things I was thinking about after work to get them out of my head and make sure I could still remember them when I did get back to work. It's crazy how much easier it is for your brain to let go of the work stress by just writing it down and moving it out of your brain.

I used to think that my hard work and loyalty towards my employer meant I SHOULD work nights, weekends, etc. I thought that when I was "given" additional assignments because I have a span of talents - I thought just that. After years of unhealthy emotional eating and stress-related habits, I finally made HEALTHY BOUNDARIES. No more working without any break or lunch away from my desk, no more working into the night or weekends. No more taking work calls/texts at all hours. I found myself eating and managing stress better. Then I found a way to remove more stress by starting a veggie/fruit garden. We love to "play in the dirt" and pick stuff to go with our meals. I got to retire, more than a decade before I thought I would and that really clears my path towards designing my life - and being aware of who and what I invite in. At work I worked with whoever I needed to and dealt with whatever work needed to be done. Now I choose my days and own my experience.

Viva’s lifestyle is vastly different from mine. I could implement number 1 with making sure I get to bed at a decent time. And number four. I don’t have an office work from home job. As a mother of four, I don’t have deadlines stress. Just kids. And the hope I can get something accomplished that day. Yes kids are stressful. But in a whole different way than work stress.
@samanthafirth1869 Жыл бұрын
Her examples maybe specific but it doesn’t mean her framework is not applicable to you. Personally, I like them because then I can see the thought process she goes through. For example, the MIT is applicable to being a housewife. What is the most important thing I need to do today and have I done them? I always have it in my mind to read more or work out more, but because I’m not checking myself regularly (this can be in the form of having an alarm set reminding yourself to eat for example). In any case, my take on her advise is to think more broadly than the specific examples she’s presenting. There is great value in understanding her thought process than her actual solution for how she checks herself. Maybe feedback for her videos is she needs to highlight more of the thought process and provide examples outside of office work to accommodate for vastly different lifestyles.

Fellow stay at home mom here, I scrolled down to see if anyone had the same thought because "stop work at 5:30" made me lol. The 5 hangry kids would not appreciate that 😂 But #1 and #4 are golden (have been doing them) and writing 3 goals for the day, instead of tackling a giant tasklist that varies from "laundry" to "remodel kitchen", has helped me so much with my workday.

This tiny bowl is surprisingly filling😅 ( Obviouly i was listening and love that idea 😊) Each 'tip' looks like a typical bowl of veg but i know once i consume will be surprisingly filling and nutritious. Meaning alot is gone into them. I'm disapointed at tip one because the sun on my face (ie warming) is not a beautiful benifit in my country most of the year.😢 The 3rd habbit is fantastic but not fot me because I'm not a career woman but it's exactly what my husband needs right now. (I work part time in a minimum wage job which i took up just to meet people in my locality and build relationships, thats my no 1 habit, to enjoy people and spread a freindly smile) Thank you for your concise presentation. Try to strech your joints to maintain mobility. Those things take at least 30 min. Begin morning, brush teath ect. I am slower, but not too much maybe 20 minutes. I think you can see a pattern .
