In the 4th game, white's attack seems to fall apart if Black plays Nd4 after White plays h4, instead of Black playing Ne8(?) as he did in the game
@aquapony
@aquapony 3 жыл бұрын
I think white can then play Qg6. The point about Ne8 is that it can go to f6 next to stop Qg6 being so useful

@Nauxie
@Nauxie 2 жыл бұрын
10:20 There is one way I can think for black to defend the mate- Black's bishop to b4(check), White's pawn to c3(or any knight to block the check), Black's queen to e7(or f6). I think that will save the king (Note-white's knight to g5 and Black's knight to h6,so same conclusion) This is pretty tough situation so black actually loses more material than white does since black bishop may also be taken at the very end.
@avanhouten
@avanhouten Жыл бұрын
Yes, also after loosing his knight at h6, he can 0-0, okay he looses a knight but not mate!
@bethhall2543

In the 3rd game when Knight moves to H6 and Bishop x Knight, why doesn't Black just castle? Rook protects pawn from Queen attack and hence, a checkmate.

If ...Nxc3, White has to go back to playing boring chess and just take Black's queen. After Bxd8 Nxd5 Rc1 White is a piece up and still has an attack, although forcing mate may not happen. By the way, the same plan applies after ...a5 - take Black's queen to ensure a material advantage, and maintain that material advantage if you can't checkmate.
