Be cautious with 'rope' twists though as too much twirling can weaken the strands and cause breakage, meshing and tangling upon removal.

I have a mix of 4b/c/a and I recently started to pay attention to clumping and was trying to figure out the name and see who had a technique for it and found clumping lol. My hair is fine but dense but it breaks so easily and since I started clumping when I separate, my hair has stayed moisturized with very little breakage!

Your hair is beautiful Naturally High I'm glad you have your own lane with your hair despite all the negativity you received on your hair in 2018. Now ppl are doing your style because of all that over manipulating of the hair with gel can damage a person's hair. I been there I been on the natural journey since 2008 when my hair first fail out from hair glue. My hair has grew to my shoulder and I had many set backs. I have big chopped 4 times. But each time it comes back faster and a different texture and healthier. My new journey is to eat healthier and exercise which I kind of did in 2015 but I fail off. I dyed my hair and took fish oil pills, I was not moisterizing my hair ( I repaeat my hair needs moisture lots of it) and I was using Gel too much and my hair broke off in the back of my head October last year 2020. My hair grew back now in April 2021. But back to you Naturally High I'm glad how humble you are. I'm the same Kids made fun of me back in 2008 because of me going natural fast forward to 2011 natural hair started getting more popular. I'm not saying I'm the first to go natural because in the 60's-70's ppl did it. Also in the 90's-early 2000's we had ppl like Lauryn Hill, Macey Gray, Jill Scott, India Aire, Wanda skyes, Keliz( Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard singer) and many more that was natural. I never forget how they ridiculed me back in 2008 in school I would walk in the class room and they would laugh. But that's okay I just wished I would of went natural sooner. Hey I love it now. Naturally continue to be you.😘❤

Thanks for your comment and the realness. Sorry to hear that this style made you feel more exposed than you would’ve liked. It’s also a decent basis for other styles, such as buns as it gives you more volume than twisted hair would. How did you style your hair? @NaturallyHigh4 жыл бұрын
😆 everyone’s hair is different but for me, I know it will just knot again unless I reclump it with flaxseed gel and that takes time. Unless I have time to really fix the ends I’ll leave them slightly tangled. Most times the tangles are from shed hairs anyway and removing them could endanger rooted hairs.

Hallo! Does your scalp need cleansing? If so, you have options. You can use a hydrosol (e.g. ORS Dry Shampoo) to cleanse your scalp - I have 2 videos on this. You can also do water only washes. You can do a wash with a stocking cap. You can do a kaolin clay wash, focusing on your scalp. I also find that rosemary oil is excellent for eliminating itching.

How long did it took you to grow your hair to this length. My hair is fine and those strands do love one another so much. Maybe if I get the clumping method down then I may be brave enough to wear my hair out🤔. God bless you 🙏🏾

Your explanation on why you don't like to detangle your ends when there is a loose stand that could potentially become a tangle is also the reason why I don't trim my hair often. I feel like trimming causes more single strand knots and split ends, which requires more trimming and thus shorter and shorter hair. It can lead you down a never-ending cycle. When you trim your hair, it just exposes the healthy part of your hair to the friction that causes the single strand knots and split end! In a weird way, the single strand knots and split protects the rest of your hair from them. I think trimming should be a last resort. You should only trim/dust when there is a tangle that will undoublty cause more issues if you keep it. I also think split ends work differently for type 4 girls. On someone with straight hair, it's easy for that split end to keep splitting up the hair shaft because the hair is straight. If you have kinky hair, it's harder for the hair to continue splitting because the hair curls in a way that somewhat blocks the hair from splitting further. As a result, I've noticed that one tail of the split end just breaks off at the point where the hair bends instead of riding up the hair shaft. So to me, split ends are kind of a unnecessary reason to trim. I only trim knots between two strands of hair and hairs with multiple single strand knots. Or when my ends get so bad that they tangle more than usual and start to feel HORRIBLE. I used to trim 2-4 times a year and it left my hair growth stagnant. As soon as I trim, my hair would go back to feeling the same way within a week. If you require frequent trimming, that should be a sign that you need to look over your hair care routines. Do you moisturize enough? Do you wear your hair in protective styles? Do you wear ruff fabrics? etc. I haven't had a "proper" trim in over 2 years. I only cut off big knots when needed. My hair has grown A LOT and my ends aren't straggly.
@HeleneGLmarie3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I stopped trimming in February because i noticed it gave me more single strand knots within a week !!!! I just put more effort in hydrating my ends now. You might also lack protein in your hair (hydrolyzed protein).
@ibukunoluwaa.11432 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I decided to stop trimming my hair two years ago for the exact reason you explained, the single strand knot didn't increase at all, if anything I barely notice them, I'll say that's because my routine encourages prevention rather than cure.

@NaturallyHigh4 жыл бұрын
That was really well phrased! First of all, I detangle my hair from the roots first before I wash it. In addition, I make sure my partings are clear. My roots do not lock up from clumping. Maybe you could try it on a small section of your own hair and see how it goes.
